The Northlight Assembly
The Northern Kingdoms have always been divided - by distance, wild magic, and long histories of mistrust. Aetheri in the North were never part of a larger community like in the South.
They lived in isolation, each shaping their magic in response to the dangers of their region.
But something has changed.
Across the kingdoms, small groups of Aetheri have started to find one another. It began near the edges of the Scarlands, where strange magical surges and corrupted creatures are becoming harder to ignore. A few Aetheri, once loners or outcasts, realised they might not survive what’s coming on their own. They reached out - carefully, quietly - and others answered.
Now, these groups are forming something new: a loose organisation calling itself The Northlight Assembly.
It’s not a kingdom. Not a rebellion. Not yet a real power. But it’s spreading.
Aetheri from distant regions - marshlands in Veralithe, broken mountains in Vraxanyth, forgotten coastal shrines in Ilairyon -are joining. Each brings different skills and different beliefs, but all agree that something worse is coming from the The Scarlands.
The Northlight Assessmbly works in small, secretive units called circles. There’s no central leadership, only coordination through magical signals, travelling messengers, and hidden safehouses.
Some Northern rulers view them with suspicion - especially in Xufera and Norvaenyr, where central authority is sacred. Others, particularly in Veralithe, Ilairyon and Eirolis, watch with cautious interest, seeing in them a possible bulwark against the growing madness near the Scarlands.
The Assembly’s goals are threefold:
- Connection – to find and protect Aetheri in the Northern Kingdoms, especially those who are young, lost, or hunted.
- Balance – to learn how to coexist with the wild magic that poisons the land, rather than suppress it.
- Strength – to stand as one when danger comes—be it from the Scarlands, the East, or even their own kings.
The Northlight Assembly's focus is simple: survival, knowledge, and readiness. They are gathering old spells, mapping unstable regions, experimenting with wild magic rather than hiding from it. They’re preparing - not for power or influence, but for whatever the Scarlands might unleash next.
They are not yet united.
But they are no longer alone.
