It is 320 BR, the 18th year of the reign of Queen Jaellin of Aldis, and the lands of Aldea stand at an uneasy détente.

The shadowed kingdom of Kern, to the north, is poised on the brink of civil war. The Council of Regents, vying for control of the kingdom since the fall of Lich King Jarek three years ago, look to their southern neighbor as both a threat and an opportunity. Could laying claim to Aldis's rich resources be the deciding factor that gives one regent an edge over the others?

The Hierophant of Jarzon, to the east, publicly exhorts his people to reject the decadence and moral laxity of Aldis, and to stay true to the teachings of the Church of the Pure Light. Privately, however, the leaders of Jarzon know well that they depend on trade with Aldis for the survival of their people. Extremists within the church argue that they've relied on their richer neighbor for long enough, and agitate for a holy war of conquest to claim Aldin lands for the Theocracy.

Meanwhile, in the unseen places of Aldea, powerful forces stir. Creatures of Shadow, the fell legacy of the ancient Sorcerer-Kings' atrocities, claw at the barriers between the worlds, ever seeking to exploit any weakness in the hearts of the people to spread suffering and terror. Plans set in motion centuries ago creep ever closer to fruition. Veiled grudges and hidden agendas create dangerous undercurrents in the halls of power, threatening to sweep away all before them.

Against this backdrop, an unlikely band of heroes are drawn together. Will they be caught in the machinations of others, or will their alliance allow them to stand firm and protect the home they build together?
