Fae Idioms and Slang
Changeling and hobgoblin culture has developed its own slang over the decades in Buena Vista.
- Chess: Faerie Chess, as played in the Hedge. In Buena Vista and its portion of the Hedge, there is a brisk trade for rare Faerie Chess pieces and much discussion of strategy in the dream-logic game.
- Demesne: Pronounced "De-main": Archaic word for domain, usually signifying a fae-influenced version of something: Websites run by changelings or the Goblin Market have "demesne names" instead of domain names, for example. Used to signify court territory as well.
- Dollop, dram, pat, pinch, spot: Informal units of Glamour, each referring to one point.
- Goblin: An adjective denoting Contracts and other fae magic that comes with a significant cost or drawback.
- Hogwarts: Buena Vista Tech, for its Autumn Court influences.
- Ironside: The mortal world, usually used by hobgoblins.
- "The Real World": The mortal world, when used by a Changeling. The Hedge, when used by a hobgoblin.
- Wonderland: Arcadia
