House of Luster and Light
The Temple dedicated to Pelor in Delim, the second floor of this building also doubles as a city-wide healing facility, which residents have begun calling the hospital.
Purpose / Function
This is the central place of worship for priests, paladins, clerics, and followers of Pelor . Though not the only temple to Pelor in the known worlds, it is one of the largest and oldest, and the place to which all truly devout followers are expected to visit at least once in their life.
Though not originally built for this reason, Pelor's domain of life has prompted most people to naturally congregate at the temple when seeking healing services. Over the years, the excess space of the temple became used more and more often for healing purposes, until the priests of Pelor embraced their role more fully and began training specific positions to lead as healers. While there may have been some protest once from others in the city who made money providing healing, the temple became officially recognized as the city's hospital several years ago.
Architecture
A white marble building with light accents of gold and gemstone. The windows are thinly carved panels of colored glass allow natural light to warm the entire temple during the day. At night, these panels glow with the power of an old enchantment, depicting scenes from the history of Pelor, and glowing colored braziers keep everyone warm even on the coldest of nights or the rainiest of days.
The main floor of the temple is a large open space for services and conversation with priests, extending all the way up the building to receive more natural light. This chamber is encircled by an outer ring of small rooms utilized for different purposes depending on the floor. The first floor is for visitors to the temple, the second for patients receiving healing services, and the third is for priests and healers only.
Tourism
As the largest temple to Pelor in the known worlds, any follower of his can be expected to make their reasons to visit the temple at some point in their lives. While there is not often much to do in the temple itself, there are some rooms on the first floor for dedicated visitors who wish to stay for a tenday and meditate on Pelor's teachings.
Some visitors will also spend time on the second floor, where hospital services occur. People who have journeyed from outside Delim to the temple have one of two reasons for their visit; they are hoping to learn healing magic to bring back to their village, or have an old injury or prominent illness they are hoping to have healed.
Though most will never see it, some visitors also come to the temple in the hopes of seeing the upper floors, where the priests and healers keep rare texts, artifacts, and possibly even rare flora curated by Pelor himself.
