Ruby Visgar
A staple crop due to its hardiness and short growing season. Visgar is not a grass, and is therefore not a grain, its triangular seed more closely resembles sunflower seeds. Ruby Visgar grows from seed to brilliant red flowers in six weeks, with the seeds maturing and are ready to harvest within 12-13 weeks of planting.
If the stalks are scythed 2-3 inches from the ground, the plant will grow back, providing multiple harvesting a year. The seeds can be used as a cereal, or ground into flour.
