Wind Reader
Within the tribes of Darkhan the spiritual guides are known as Wind Readers, so named from their distant past as nomads of the seas. They read the augury of the skies and plains for the wisdom of the spirits in guiding the clans in their roaming, from where to take their herds to decisions of trade and alliance.
Wind Readers are held in a position of high esteem; their counsel is sought by the clan leaders, Sea Herders, in any major decisions that have to be made, as well as acting as a general council for clan members for smaller family choices. They are also the historians for the clans, telling the tales of the Darkhan and their specific clan at festivals and spiritual gatherings.
Twice a year, at the solstice, the Wind Readers gather at Uulg peak to read the auguries of the year and hold council for all the tribes. It is during these meetings that it is decided if it is right that the clans should form alliances, change internal trade, and if they should form a grand clan to raid the surrounding lands.
Wind Readers can easily be identified by their attire, as well as the hide and fur based clothing that in not uncommon amoung the clans they wear head dresses crafted of the heads of large sea creatures, such as sharks or seals, and wear decorations of the smaller bones and feathers of sea birds, these are often word as braclets and necklaces. It is said that the spirits of these creatures reside within the adornments, aiding the Wind Reader in seeing the paths of the future, so that they are better able to guide their clan.
Wind Readers will often take one or two of the most promising clan members as novices, they take up these roles at a young age, eight to ten years old, beginning the many-year-long training to read and understand the auguries and to learn the stories of their people.

Hey! This is a really cool article. Have there been times where the Wind Reader and the spirits don't mesh? And what happens if a Wind Reader is deemed unfit to rule?
