The Pitted Shield
An organisation dedicated to defending all of the lands of broken haven, taking work from any of the populous and charging according to the threat and available funds of the requester. then despatching members of the guild to deal with the threat.
Structure
The pitted Shield has a hall in most towns of any significant population, run by a Hall Master, these Hall Masters operate on a mostly autonomous basis, able to induct any group into the lower ranks of the organisation.
Major cities house the regional High Halls, these halls provide centralised administration, the power to install Hall Masters and act as point to organise responses to significant threats.
They are also the centres where members attend to make their case for higher ranks within the organisation
Within the guide halls all administration and work evaluation is done by the Arbiters, these are skilled negotiators and assessors who deal with the public requests ensuring all relevant details are obtained and a fee is set before they create the requests to be posted on the jobs boards.
The Arbiters also evaluate new adventures requesting to join the guild as well as the assessments for guild rank increases for current adventurers.

Culture
As an apolitical organisation the Pitted Shield operates primarily as a consortium of adventures, providing service to groups that can be harder to locate in places of lower population while acting as a trusted organisation for seeking skilled individuals to solve dangerous problems.
Membership to the organisation is paid for by a percentage of any reward for jobs taken within one of the halls, the benefits provided for this, is access to higher ranked healing and restorative magic than is often found in the Halls locations, repair and appraisal of items as well as a trade hub where even the rarest and most esoteric items will find buyers The general attitude of the members of The Pitted Shield is one of entitlement, the active adventures, for the most part, do not consider their jobs to be under the purview of local laws, and as such they often complete the tasks that they've been hired for with little care about if the way they complete the work breaks any local laws such as destruction of property, death of bystanders and so on.
The guild promotes the more accomplished members through various events and demonstrations designed to show off the skills of there members. These lauded individuals are known in these events by colourful nicknames often derived from distinctive fighting styles or for particularly well known actions.
