Tarred Hearts
The Tarred Hearts are a sub-faction of the Order of Orren, formed to act in more subtle ways than an order of knights generally can.
They formed to fight against the corruption of fiendish and titanspawn entities, skilled at infiltrating and gathering information to locate and root out these corrupting entities, while also being proficient in leading and coordinating groups in conflict. The mandates of agents are often to inspire a town to rise up and fight against the foul abominations, with the agent leading them and lending them the missing skills in conflict to ensure that the zeal of the locals is effective, thus enabling the fight to be taken up in far more places that the order could operate if it were to be reliant upon its might alone.
Established during the height of the Third Deamon Wars, as an organisation with the skills to make incisive action against the widespread threat represented by a deamonic invasion, the Tarred Heart demonstrated that a great deal could be accomplished by deploying individuals who were able to discover the root of a threat and lead those around them into combat. Over the years that have followed, the structure of the organisation has not significantly changed, with the freedom of its agents being one of its key strengths; however, the scope of the influence within the Tarred Hearts has now become a measure of an individual's authority and success.
While Tarred Hearts Inquisitors and agents can openly operate and seldom go undercover themselves associates and affiliates with the order often operate incognito. When one such associate identifies a Tarred Hearts member, they can subtly identify themselves by including the phrase ‘Deeds done in the dark will be brought to the light’
