Dielbus
Dielbus, Lord of the Pits, is a high-ranking fiendish creature, an arch-fiend of some power. The earliest records of them are mentions in the annals documenting the Second Deamon War around 4205AF, where the name Dielbus is recorded as a powerful lieutenant leading a significant number of forces into combat.
There is little referencing Dielbus again until the Third Daemon War, when Dielbus was recorded as a captain of the hosts and one of the most canny of tactical leaders. It is recorded that the host he led was defeated in 5453 AF, as the tide of the war was shifting in favour of the mortal forces. The annals suggest that it was believed that this meant Dielbus was destroyed during this engagement. Though time would show this to be an incorrect belief.
Our final records have Dielbus recorded as an arch fiend, one of the great generals of the Forth Daemon War. Not the ultimate leader, but significant enough that it was an accepted strategic goal that driving Dielbus back to the Lower Planes would turn the tide of the war in our favour. This was accomplished at significant cost; he was successfully banished back to the Lower Planes in 10372AF. This is marked as a great victory, and much of the remaining 16 years of the war saw us driving the significant elements out of heavily populated lands and hunting down the remaining leading figures.
What little detail we possess suggests that over the course of 6000 years, quite a short span for beings such as Dielbus, they progressed from the power of a pit fiend to that of an arch fiend, a meteroic rise that implies Dielbus possesses significant tactical and stratigic genius, to have reached such power without drawing the wrath of those above him is quite some achievement.
Now a figure of considerable power, capable of wielding significant magical power as well as a combatant of some prowess, and most worryingly, a rare creature to be recorded in each of the Deamon Wars, most are seen in just one. The motivations behind such repeated incursions are a mystery, but of great concern.
