The Tale of Four Seasons
After the First War at the end of the Age of Antivum, there still roamed few Veteri on The Planes. They had been the scholars and craftsmen who had not turned to war and had instead hidden away to protect themselves. The Planes were torn asunder and bore the scars of that great war. Now the Children ached for their mother after the war as so much loss of life had nearly destroyed Gaillen. To help restore her and The Planes, they scoured the whole of creation for those they thought most worthy to endow with their greatest gifts. They found four Veteri, of the few remaining who sought to do good and protect what remain after the chaos and destruction.
To them were given the means to restore The Planes. To the Spring Hero, Koruk gave his gloves which became a great pair of gauntlets shaped of earth and wood. With them, Koruk instructed the bearer to use a gentle hand and guide the soil to life anew. To the Summer Hero, Daegon gave his ring which became a magnificent circlet wrought of fire and light. With it, Daegon bade the wearer to use great words to give heart to the broken peoples of The Planes. To the Fall Hero, Vela gave her sandals which became splendid boots made of wind and rain. Vela entreated their carrier to use exuberant step to cleanse the skies from the dust of war. And lastly, to the Winter Hero, Acionna gave her shawl which became grand robes spun of salt and spray. Acionna told the holder to use stern guidance to shelter the weakened peoples of The Planes
For centuries, the four traveled the material plane restoring what they could and bringing joy back to the Mother as life flourished once more. In time, each passed away as the Veteri were still mortal. All were buried with their gift sealed away into chambers so deep and hidden that only those who earnestly sought them could reach the tombs, and so guarded that only the bravest and strongest could wrest the gifts from their resting places
