Volan

Apollinitus' old home in the Old World. Was destroyed by Durzo the Daring. Was home to a powerful treasure that allowed people of various races to live together in harmony without being destroyed by Anum. Its ruler used to be a contemporary of Newgate back in the day, who retreived the treasure when he was a pirate.   The group of people are known as Volans to those who have heard tale of them, the island is named Volan and the main city is Volantis and is inhabited by Volantians. It is pretty much a city state in the middle of the sea on a large shelf (230milesx230miles about a days worth of sailing in any direction from the main city). The main island is a dead volcano and accommodation starts from the top and continues to below the wave, each race taking up accommodation where they feel most comfortable ie avions high-up on the mountain, dwarfs burrowed into the mountain, fishfolk next to humans or in underwater villages (some houses had both dry rooms upstairs and flooded rooms downstairs). There are many smaller islands on the shelf and lots of beautiful reef areas. There are a few smaller towns on the other islands.   As I previously said, it's very peaceful so there is only a small fighting force lead by the leaders and elders. Herbalists, guardian force leader and the best fighter, the holy one, an old bard and his constant verbal sparing partner (a wizard or a sorcerer), chief guard/police, chief builder, chief crafter, Lord spotter(who helps with weather predictions and keeping an eye on the island) and a council of elders(at least one of each race is represented). Apart from that folk knew how to hunt one way or another. Ah, I forgot the is the unwater leader called voice of the deep (in charge of hearing/spotting threats from the deep including suigien raiders, sea monsters, unusual water currents and managing below the water.)   So the island is lead by 10 leaders and the holy one back by a council of elders Cool little fact, the houses with underwater portions have complimentary pills,potions or items outside the submerged portions (to allow breathing underwater) to be hospitable to land dwellers who visit. The volcano also provides a natural harbour area for watercraft to stay I have a pretty clear idea of the social and physical make up of this destroyed Eden.
