Pirate Lord Elizabeth Rochelieu

Lady Elizabeth Rochelieu- Demidov (a.k.a. Bloodbath Elizabeth)

One of the pirate lords. A vampire that has the ability to turn areas into eternal night. Their home base is basically Barovia. They travel around in a big spooky galleon, sleeping in a coffin belowdecks during the day. Has a particular hatred for Jira. Captain of the Bloodtide Pirates. Used to be a member of The Board, was disgraced, murdered her family in cold blood, cursed to become a creature of the night. Wants Newgate's treasure as a form of revenge.   Her husband brokered a deal with Old Ed to live on in undeath so that he may put this sad story to rest. He roams as a skeletal revenant, seeking a way to end Elizabeth's life. Despite all she's done, he still adores her, and it hurts him to see what she's become. He even dotes on her mid-fight. He would do anything to see her return to her humanity and believes that deep down, she longs to return to the simple, quiet life she had with him. His name is Sir Andrew Rochelieu, but he is most often known as the Skull Knight. He dresses sharply, and talks eccentrically, incredibly proud that he is able to maintain his glorious moustache despite his skeletal appearance. He grew it whilst he an his wife were going through hard times after being banished. It looked so ridiculous that she couldn't help but laugh at him. His family is one of the houses that founded the NWTC.   Her first mate is a large and dull brute of a man named Quincy, a Nosferatu. Quincy is a classic pirate, a lowlife thug who adores booze, women, and violence, even before turning. Elizabeth keeps him around for his strength and intimidation factor. Despite being such a different person from her, Quincy harbours deep respect and adoration for his captain. Around her, his demeanour completely shifts. He tries his best to dress nicely, despite his horrific visage, tries to use big words he doesn't know the meaning of, and brutally eviscerates anyone who he considers rude to his lady. He's trying his best.   In truth, Quincy has something of a schoolboy crush on Elizabeth. He admires her for her strength and grace, but at the same time, being near her a lot means he sees sides of her not many others see. He sees that loneliness, that pain and grief that tortures her so, and although he doesn't understand the reason, he wishes to do his utmost to help whatever pains his lady.

Many Suitors

Not long after Elizabeth's transformation into an immortal creature of the night, a soothsayer began to spread word of a prophecy. She said that the Lady Rochelieu shall rule over lands and seas of shadow, only to perish by lovers' hands.   Many interpret this prophecy to mean that Elizabeth can only be killed by someone she sees as a lover. She has after all proven to be much more resilient than even other vampires, according to those learned in the occult. Ordinarily, a vampire who's body is destroyed turns to mist and reforms in their coffin where they slowly regenerate. If caught too far from their coffin, or destroyed whilst unable to transform (such as in direct sunlight or running water), a normal vampire dies. Not so with Rochelieu, who in those circumstances eventually reforms in her coffin as normal around a week or two later. Likewise, a vampire regenerating in their coffin is usually vulnerable to a stake in the heart, but with the Lady's case, those who have managed to attack her in such a state have merely delayed her regeneration rather than killed her.   Seeing as she seems otherwise invincible, there are those that seek to use this prophecy to destroy her. Fellow Pirate Lord Durzo Galanodel has even gone as far as to place a bounty of 500,000 gold pieces to the individual capable of winning the Lady's hand in marriage, an amount that eclipses even the substantial bounty placed on her head by the NWTC. As such, Lady Rochelieu recieves a great many offers from eligable bachelors and bachelorettes seeking her hand. She of course, is aware of the prophecy, as well as the bounty placed by Galanodel. She sees these foolish bounty hunters as an entertaining distraction, and delights in luring them in before throwing them to the ravenous undead she keeps on her crew.

Personal history

One of the elites of the world. Born during the early Age of Discovery and remembers the Company's rise to power. Hers is part of one of the noble houses that runs the Company. Was arranged to marry her husband, Andrew, whom she lived with happily and bore him several children. Andrew was a kind soul. He frequently spoke out against the cruelties that the Company dealt out and allowed to happen, and sought to bring about changes from the inside. Although this worried Elizabeth, she trusted her husband and stood by him.   One time Andrew stepped too far, and as punishment, he and Elizabeth were banished from Pangea to live as peasants. Their children were kept in Pangea so that they wouldn't inherit their father's bleeding heart.   Although devastated, the two rebuilt a modest life in the wilderness as peasants. It was rough, but they had each other, and they knew their children were safe, and that was enough.   One day, Elizabeth's sister came to stay at a palace on the same island. Elizabeth rushes to greet her, but was beaten by her sister's guards. Her two sons, whom her sister was raising, had become spoiled, vile children, and no longer recognised her. This caused something to snap in Elizabeth. She snuck into her sister's room, and conducting an occult ritual, slew her and drank her blood, transforming her into a vampire.   In a bloodthirsty frenzy, she tore through the palace, burning it down and inadvertently killing her sons.   Andrew confronted her, horrified. She turned to him and in her rage, blamed everything on him. She killed him, tore his throat, and claimed that his cowardly blood wasn't good enough for her, tossed him into the sea.   But Andrew did not die. He made a deal with Old Ed, that he would join the cursed pirate's crew, but only after he puts a stop to the monster his wife has become.   Elizabeth now lives in the burnt out remains of that same palace. She has been cursed, by Old Ed perhaps, to never experience the luxury she lost. Any nice thing, any decoration or dress, fades and dulls and rots faster than should be possible.   No amount of luxury will satisfy the hole in her heart now. She will become the ruler of the world. She will supplant He Who Knows the Word, no matter the cost.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

When Elizabeth committed the ultimate sin of killing her family, she was cursed. Not with simply undeath, as she expected, but with an emptiness. Her vampirism allowed her the power to take what she wanted, charm whoever she wanted to her side, to crush those that charm doesn't work on.   With her abilities, assembling a pirate empire and claiming enough riches to earn a lifestyle like the one she lost was incredibly easy, but no matter how lavishly decorated her abode, no matter the amount of expensive wines and beautiful dresses and rare perfumes, an emptiness lives now inside her. An empty vacuum in her gut where her pleasure should be. It pains her, and causes all expensive possessions around her to rust, dull and rot at a supernatural pace. Only her wedding band is immune to these effects. She despises the fact that she can't enjoy the very things that caused her to throw away everyone she loved. It is like a hell to her. She'll never be able to find peace until that hole is filled.   She spent decades trying to fill said hole, not knowing its cause. Ever more expensive castles. A fleet of ships. Religion. Food. Drink. Pleasurable company of all sorts. None of it works. Her last resort is to simply obtain more wealth and more power. Once she owns everything in the world, then at last, finally that hole should be filled.   She then learns of Newgate. The treasure he allegedly found on the New World. The fact that the NWTC executed him right away. Being one of the few to know of the existence of He Who Knows The Word, she understood that whatever Newgate found scared him, and it could overthrow him. So Elizabeth set out to claim this treasure for herself, and finally fill the void in her soul. her greatest fear is that not even that will be enough in the end.

Savvies & Ineptitudes

Elizabeth is a master of courtly graces, able to deftly manoeuvre polite conversations into manipulating others to do what she wants, even without her hypnotic gaze. She is very quickly able to take in the measure of a man, and figure out how to use that to her advantage.   She is also a cunning swordswoman, brilliant tactician and a master of rare and occult magics, particularly hemomancy, the art of blood magic. One of her greatest successes is her ability to reverse engineer the Hunter's Bane, a forbidden and secret art used to turn normal humans into blood hunters - humans with enhanced abilities who hunt creatures of the night like herself. She now performs her own modified version of the Hunter's Bane on her own crew, enhancing their powers greatly.   She is not without her faults, however. She has lost her ability to feel genuine empathy for others and assumes that everyone has an ultimately selfish goal. She cannot begin to fathom the kind of person that would do good solely for its own sake.   She also has a short temper and can be very quick to anger. Although her anger is a cold and calculating one, if someone gets under her skin (usually by doing something that reminds her of her old life), she can become so narrow-minded in pursuing petty revenge that she can often totally lose sight of her larger goal.
