Chimaerists

The Chimaerists are a powerful multinational guild. Founded by scientists from the plant empire, this guild is unraveling the mysteries of genetics. Plants have a looser relationship with genetics than humans, able to split their genes more easily and even to use chromosomes from other species. This natural ability to make use of unrelated genes allowed for an explosion of scientific experiments that could not work with animal subjects. With this baseline understanding of genetics achieved, the Chimaerists moved forward to animal studies quickly and recklessly.   As the guild gained funding and power, they began to create creatures for sale, purpose-built for whatever industrial sector was at the most profitable for the time. Chimaeras were made for hauling, dangerous factory work, for wars, and even melded into living ships. The guild competes heavily, sometimes even violently, with worker unions and automaton builders. Their relationship with some militaries are growing, as self-fueling chimaeras are a tantalizing weapon to many nations.

Culture

Within the guild, competitive experiments rule the culture. Sabotage of experiments, exclusive social cliques and clubs, and internal politics make a difficult and dangerous ladder to be climbed by guild members, almost a terrible as the circles in academia.

Public Agenda

The public face of the guild is all about espousing how the chimaeras are more effective than automatons, and that each chimaera can replace several workers at any given job. Of course, they do not care to calm the fears of workers, and all their propaganda is geared toward industrial barons and the aristocracy.

Territories

Chimaerists have a hub in every major city, and have working assembly factories at many of them. The harvesting factories where they grow the raw material are usually hidden and closer to the empire, as they fear that uncontrolled witnesses to these factories could stir up riots.
