The Circular Calendar

or How Brandarens Tell The Time

The Circular Calendar is the general Brandaren method of tracking the passage of time; other calendars exist, but their use isn't as widespread, and their accuracy in relation to the seasons is much more questionable.

There are 24 hours in a day– with a day beginning at dawn– 60 minutes in an hour, and 60 seconds in a minute. The numbers in the following paragraph are in the dozenal system to allow for proper explanation of the religious meaning behind the 60-part timing.
There are 5 groupings of 10 in each hour; the first 4 minutes belong to Luthor, Guardian of Light. The next 4 belong to Vitanne, Guardian of Life. This continues as counting does, up to the last grouping of 10, where the first 4 belongs to Adall, the second 4 to Yona, and the final 4 to Arcen.T
Circular Calendar
by Morgan
The iconography of the Circular Calendar (as shown above) depicts a wheel made of four intersecting lines, which divide an invisible circle in eight parts; this division indicates the eight years in a cycle, eight months in a year, and eight days in a week. The two cross lines on the left of the wheel indicate where Adall's Month is in the calendar on the three years that it is celebrated.
