Sept Position Overview
Sept positions are listed below. Positions can be either Filled (NPC), indicating they are filled by an NPC and a player gaining that position will have to work for it ICly to Challenge and Overthrow the position, Filled (Player), indicating the same but the character is played by another player, or Empty, which means the Sept has no Garou in this position. Some positions can have multiple Garou fulfilling them (often at lower Sept Standing ranks).
A Garou can be nominated to fill a position above their Sept Standing. When this happens, the Garou does not gain the benefits for their position until the Patron of the Sept allows them to. This can be resolved in one of two ways. First, the player may RP out their seeking Standing from the Sept Patron (for only the Sept Patron can grant a leap in Sept Standing). If the Patron finds them agreeable, then they gain the benefits of their position and a temporary boost to Sept Standing. If they fall from the Sept Patron’s graces, however, they are stripped of position and all Sept Standing they possessed beforehand, as they have severely angered the Sept Patron.
Secondly, the player may purchase Sept Standing with EXP spends. Sept Standing, much like Renown, must be proven with IC rationale. Your character cannot just magically gain two Sept Standing dots; they must have worked to gain it, and much like with Renown, it’s harder to go from three dots to four than it is from two dots to three, and so on.
A position with an asterisk ( *) behind it indicates multiple Garou can serve in the position. A plus sign (+) indicates that Kinfolk can serve in the position, but Kinfolk may have additional requirements.
Renown does not directly correlate to Sept Standing. An Athro Garou can be Talesinger, as can an Elder. It’s rarer for a Garou of lower Renown to hold a Sept Standing of three or higher -- and if that is the case, then the Garou is often due for a promotion at the next moot.Sept Standing 1 -
