Months
The world of boros has 13 months. They are loosely associated with the gods that founded the planet. They each consist of 4 7 day weeks.Month 1 - Yana
This is the month of Iana, the first month of the new year. Like the queen of Elysium, this is a happy and celebrated month of the year. New beginnings, the ability to re-arrange your life for the better. This is the religious holy month for the humans of Boros, celebrating the beginning of the new year. Unfortunately, many humans think the real month of celebration is Nemvimbra, as that is the month of harvest, feasts and fortune.
Month 2 - Belthion
This is the month of Belethar, god of the underworld. This month is about the reality of the world we live in as well as caution for the year to come. Many think of this month as the opposite of Yana, all of those plans and changes you have wanted to accomplish fall apart in this month. The failure to keep bettering yourself is the work of Belethar himself! Curse him! The wise often say this is a month to reflect upon your own realities and shortcomings, and think of it as a blessing
Month 3 - Loggi
This is the month of Logni, god of the earth. This is the season of celebration for the dwarven people. Time to reflect on the blessings that the earth has given us, as well as in many areas of the northern hemisphere of Boros it is about to become planting season, or at the very least time to begin tilling the earth in preparation for the spring.
Month 4 - Endrelly
This is the month of birth and joy. This is also the month in celebration of the God of Nature, Endrellion. This is the season of celebration for the Elven people, who are believed to be descended from Endrellion itself The earth has warmed, the plants begin to bloom, and the weather begins to be fairer and fairer.
Month 5 - Udrune
This is the month of Udra, the goddess of weather. Warmer weather have brought storms, rain, and with that both growth and destruction.
Month 6 - Kamodu
This is the month of Kamodev, god of love and pleasure. This is the celebration month of halflings. They are the life of the party. Many cities hold festivals that attract the traveling halflings. They perform shows, feats of acrobatics, sing, dance and overall bring merriment to the world. This month is typically the fairest weather, and while the halflings give thanks to their god of pleasure, all in the world of Boros enjoy this month.
Month 7 - Roggi
This is the month of Rogni, god of fire. This also traditionally happens to be the warmest month on Boros. Crops are growing well, and many think of this month as a time to rest and get out of the heat.
Month 8 - Chac
This is the month of Chaco, god of water. As the weather begins to cool, many appreciate the god of water, and the bounty he provides. Often many large cities will celebrate their waterways and oceans with festivals thanking the god of water for all he gives.
Month 9 - Nemvimbra
This is the month of harvest, this is the month of greed and exceess. Larders are at their fullest, and while many celebrate this time, the more wary think of this as a dangerous time. People tend to forget the lean times here, and enjoy the high life too much. This is a month of many harvest festivals and merriment, and also traditionally the Human month of celebration. While the religious among the humans would say Yana is the actual month of holy celebration. This is also a very popular time to collect debts, and in many areas it is where taxes tend to be do. "Hit em while they are flush" This is the reason why a very generally happy month is associated with the goddess of revenge and greed.
Month 10 - Nambun
This is the month of the god of Knowledge Nambu. This is the month of celebration for the Gnomes. They hold many magical festivals. The city states of the Gnomish people become popular travel destinations for the wealthy and magically inspired alike. These cities often hold contests of knowledge and Magic, as well as arts and crafts. If you don't have the money to travel to these beacons of knowledge and enlightenment, the local gnomish embassy will often have local contests and displays of magic for those in the city. Many also think of this as the month of book-keeping, as it is time to prepare the boons harvested in Nemvimbra and Nambu to last the long winter.
Month 11 - Nothin
This is the month of the god of entropy and decay, Nothis. The leaves begin to fall, and the weather continues to get colder and colder. We are reminded that all good times end, and that there are some difficult months ahead.
Month 12 - Hinnus
This is a month of the Goddess of death, Hinna. The cold months have truely begun. This is often the month that many societies celebrate those lost. While the world goes darker and quieter, we also appreciate those around us. This month is the holiday of Vermirren, which is a holiday celebrated by all. It is on the 11th day of Hinnus, and it is said that it traces back to a cease fire in an ancient war by an ancient people. Many joke that this was because it was too damn cold to fight, but those hopeful people of Boros believe this was a sign of acceptance and peace amongst all who live on the planet. Almost every conflict and war has had a cease fire on this day.
Month 13 - Rundranna
This is the month where there is no god. Cold, dark, the longest nights. This month cannot get done fast enough. The dark before the light.
