Seaward
A floating trade settlement maintained by the Vikani, a nomadic people who spend most of their lives at sea, Seaward has become one of the major trading centres in the Myriads. The Vikani are hardy and experienced sea folk who scavenge far and wide, and trade with far flung settlements, enabling them to get their hands on items and goods that most others are unable to. As a result Seaward is known as the place to go if you are looking for something obscure or hard to get a hold of.
Seaward consists of a mass of boats, pontoons and rafts all connected together to form one of the biggest settlements in the Myriads. Once every three years the settlement almost doubles in size as the Vikani gather for their Community meet-up, and almost all the Vikani vessels come home to roost. The settlement has relatively few permanent Vikani inhabitants due to the nomadic nature of the people, although there are several hundred folk in residence at any one time. Many of the more permanent residents are not Vikani themselves and are more often than not traders or merchants, who man the stalls and shops of this busy trade hub.
Seaward has an almost constant stream of visitors, be they traders, relic hunters, travellers or those who simply wish to see a floating city for themselves. As such there are several places of entertainment to be found in the city, such as taverns, fishing spots, food stalls, and open gaming spaces. However, it is the central market that draws most people to Seaward, here can be found treasures and trade items that are almost impossible to find anywhere else.
The city is protected by a rotating force of Vikani who work in three year cycles in conjunction with the community meet up. This force protects the city from raiders and the odd sea creature, enforces the city's few but firm laws, and generally keep the peace. Seaward welcomes all who come in peace and retaliates fiercely against those who don't.
