Sandbank

Situated on a modest island in the Margins, Sandbank boasts some of the best arable land in the region. The island is situated in one of the calmer regions of this area of the sea, so is also a safe harbour for ships travelling along these lanes. The settlement has stood for just over a hundred years, or rather there have been people calling this place home for that long. The settlement itself has been rebuilt several times over its storied life.   The town sits on a large sheltered bay which is deep enough for larger ships to find daft. From the beach the land rises sharply to a large plateau, and the town is built into this incline. Fishing docks and a few shops and stalls cluster along the shoreline and piers, whilst most of the residential and communal buildings rise up the slope connected by a series of wooden platforms, bridges and ladders.

A series of ill fates

A freak storm

While the town is not immune to the normal storms and inclement weather that blows through these parts, its sheltered location usually keeps it safe from the most violent of nature's offerings. However, about eighty years ago the island was hit by a freak hurricane which wiped out the docks and shoreline buildings and either destroyed or damaged most of the townsfolks homes and new founded businesses.

It burnt down

A ship in the harbour, carrying out repairs after being damaged in a storm, caught its munitions stores on fire and there followed a rather spectacular explosion. The wind unfortunately happened to be blowing in just the wrong direction for the poor townsfolk, and burning debris and sparks showered down on parts of the town. While the townsfolk reacted reasonably quickly to bring the blaze under control, the wooden docks once again bore the brunt of the damage.

Pirate attack

Large creature attacks

A giant king crab driven towards the town by inept hunters ran rampant through the town before being finally brought to bay by the plucky townsfolk. While the hunters who arrived towards the end tried to claim the remains of the huge beast as their own. the townsfolk very firmly explained that they would be keeping it recompense for the destruction of their town.   The town sits on a large sheltered bay which is deep enough for larger ships to find daft.
