Things to see
Architecture
Brittle Cairn is one of the oldest cities in South Heart and as such has architecture spanning over a thousand years. Some of the best examples of stone masonry, above ground, can be found in this city and it boasts the tallest building in South Heart built not using magic. From majestic temples to quaint old shops, the buildings of Brittle Cairn tell their own story of the passing of the years.
Temple of the Moon
No trip to Brittle cairn is complete without a trip to the great Temple. Even though it is in the heart of the city, as soon as you step onto its grounds there is a peacefulness that can't be found any where else. The grounds are meticulously maintained and provide many a seculded folly witin which to enjoy the peace. The centre room of the temple, has a domed ceiling made of pure glass, so that the moon can shine down into it no matter the time of year. The murals and mosaics which make up the temple walls and floors each tell a story of the moon Goddess, and done in such fine detail as to be almost impossible to mimic to this day.
Things to do
Gondith Row
In amongst the winding streets of The Old District stands a lane which looks like it has been plucked right from the history books. And you would be right to think so. The houses on this row have been preserved exactly as they were over a thousand years ago. It is like stepping back in time. The whole street is a museum to life in the past. There is a house, a bakers, a small forge, and old inn. Each one preserved to be a snap shot in time. All of the people who work here dress in clothing from the time, and give demonstrations on the various activities which would have taken up peoples lives back then.
Take in a show
The city boasts the finest theatre in all of South Heart and draws the best actors from across the lands. They have plays, galas, singers, orchestras, dance troupes. any kind of entertainment that can be put on a stage can be found at the Bastonne Theatre. The building itself is a masterpiece of architecture, having being repurposed from an old temple dedicated to some old God or the other. Inside the decor has been tastefully done out in a mix of old and new, giving it a fresh look and feel. The seats are very comfortable and roomy, and if you can afford to splash out then I reccomend hiring a balcony booth just once. It comes with champagne and canapes, served right to you.
Things to buy
Justina's Antique Emporium
I simply adore this place and Justina's knowledge of Third age antiquitaries is second to none. from pottery to vintage clothing, from old clockwork toys to grandfather clocks. This place is a treasure trove for the antique lover, and Justina always manges to find the best items, I sometimes wonder how she manages it, thought not too hard.
Killimen's Tailors
The finest hand made suits in all the land, I have several myself. Killimen has an exclusive deal with the Gnomes of Hatting, who everyone knows spin the finest wool in all the lands. This means his suits are the most sought after for those with a little money in their pockets. While one of his suits can set you back anywhere between forty and a hundred gold, they will last you for a good ten if you care for them properly.
Pretty Pottery
This family owned business has been thriving in brittle Cairn for nigh on a hundred years. With the business now in the hands of the grand children of the couple who first set it up. All of the pottery is made on site and then hand glazed in a variety of custom patterns. each year they bring out a new design and there a re folk who have been collecting them for their whole lives. The pieces are not only pretty but durable, all of the pieces are designed to be used everyday and the glaze wil last for the lifetime of the pot as long as no harsh abrasives are used.
Things to eat

This place is a terror on any waistline. The smell of freshly baked pastries pulls you in and then you are trapped, surrounded by so many tempting delights. There are puff pastries, donuts, sweet tarts, and her speciality cream cakes. So many types and flavours and shapes of cream cake, some with fruit, some glazed in honey, some with nuts, the varieties are endless. Everything is baked fresh in store, and she will also make custom orders for special oaccasions.
Denbenathis steak house
Wonderful food and a wonderful atmosphere. The wooden beamed ceilings, rough carved tables and chairs and rustic decor give this place a lovely warm and cosy feel. The staff are all freindly and helpfull and offer an excellent service. Denby. the owner buys all of his meat from local farmers and he knows the origin of every steak he serves. I haven't found any one yet who can cook a steak quite like Denby, i'm sure he uses some sort of magic, though he laughs whenever \i bring it up. He says the secret is in the wood he uses for the flame.
