Bertie the Bar Boar
Probably the most famous person in Craggs Point, Bertie has been a constant source of both terror and delight for the patrons of the Diving Gull. He has been with his owner, Georgie Albas, since she arrived in Craggs Point and set up the diving Gull tavern twenty one years ago. For those of you who know anything about boars, twenty one years is a long time for a boar to be alive., which is just one of the many reasons he has garnered such fame. It is unknown how old Bertie actually is as Georgie has been rather tight lipped about her life before arriving in the port town.
The large boar, with his menacing tusks and the ornery reputation of his species, made folk a bit cautious at first , but his generally placid nature and love of head scratches soon won over the hearts of most patrons. Aside from being a draw for customers, Bertie is also an excellent food disposal unit, not that Georgie's patrons ever have much food left on their plate, what with her being such an excellent cook. Georgie has banned the patrons from feeding Bertie though, as he was starting to put too much weight on.
Being a reasonably busy port town Craggs point does see a lot of sailors and travellers passing through, and the Diving Gull's reputation for good food and Bertie, sees many customers come through her door. And while most of them are well behaved, sometimes trouble does break out, and this is where Bertie's ornery reputation becomes a reality. Most of the time the sight of him coming their way is enough to make most drunken trouble makers back off and if not, well, those tusks aren't just for show.
Bertie and Georgie have also become known for their morning swim. Every day at dawn the pair come down to the beach and take a swim in calm bay. It is quite a sight to see the pair of them together in the water. Bertie likes to have a swim, then come up onto the wet and and have a good roll around, sand is an excellent exfoliant after all, then he goes back in for another quick swim and rinse off before settling down in the sand for a quick nap.
