Welcome to the Studio

Welcome to my little studio. Originally it was not my intention to show you my own work in this section, but rather...

New level for authors

Maybe you're one of those Anvilities who can write very well, but whose articles get little attention because they lack that certain something?

If so, this section might be for you. It's not about becoming an absolute design guru. Honestly, I'm not either and I know that I can't really keep up with a lot of the community when it comes to CSS magic or the art of drawing. And pssst, I'm not in the inner circle of WorldAnvil's top league either, if that's what you're thinking. But...

I learned the profession of media designer about 20 years ago, when it was still really a craft and working on computers was still in its infancy, at least in East Germany.

I promise you, sometimes it's enough to use colors better, choose the power of meaningful banners for the article or place a few images in the article to get one more like.

You can already write, now you just need a little help getting started for a better reading experience.

Concept of this section

Basically, this section is aimed at authors who have little or no idea about colors and all the other layout stuff. I would like to show you what you can achieve with a few tricks without using CSS or having to become a CSS professional. After a year of the Master subscription, I switched to Grandmaster because I wanted to make my layouts more individual, especially through containers, and use more images. So if you have a lower level, I would be happy to hear your comment if you are unable to implement my tips or not all of them.

I will never use worlds or authors as bad examples, as everyone generally has their own preferences. Just because I don't like something doesn't mean that others will too. Besides, tastes change. What you and I like today, we think is stupid tomorrow. There will always be people who find the design of my worlds bad. If you have suggestions for improvement, criticism is very welcome.

If you would like to submit one of your articles as a positive example, I would be very happy and if you have taken new "design" paths following one of my instructions, I would also like to find out more about that.

Yes, it will also be about the primordial slime, but don't worry, you don't need to be able to draw. If you know how to crop an image with a computer and have a little knowledge of the old HTML (here BBCode), that should be enough to get started.

Please write me a comment on this section as I would like to hear your opinion like: "Yes, definitely, I would be interested in that." or "Are you serious? This is an absolutely stupid idea.". And if you have any article ideas that could fit this, don't be afraid to ask me.

... However, after I had already published this article, there was a nice conversation with Amélie on Discord simultaneously about using WorldAnvil as a showcase and developing as an "artist".

Sure, I was told early on that I had talent, but I never saw myself as an artist. As a child, I hated having to show my pictures around the family because my parents were so proud of me. What I loved most was retreating to my room and simply doing crafts, sewing, drawing or reading. But now, what could fit better in a studio than exhibiting your own things? Maybe it's time to dig through some binders and display some "art."

Perfect! *chef's kiss*   And given what I've seen you do with World Anvil... this has needed to be out for the world to see! You are absolutely an artist!
