SC Vol. 2 - Homeworktime
Summercamp -
use the time for writing.
(to the tune of Summertime) -
The first stream of homework for this year's summer camp began with this little world-building catchy summer hit. Let's go on another wonderful journey and discover things that we have never thought about before, but that will give our worlds and goals a powerful boost. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that you achieve the medals - and perhaps more - that you hope for in your promises.
Small introductory thoughts
Preparation
Dear newcomers, please don't let my opinion influence you. Even though it's only my second summer camp, I can say that summer camp doesn't really suit me because I'm just too unspontaneous. But that doesn't have to be the case for you! So here are a few tips on how to master your first summer camp.
Tips
- Just have fun and don't put pressure on yourself!
- Concentrate on your worlds without being discouraged by others who will be churning out article after article if you don't get going yourself!
- If you can't think of something straight away, let the community's articles inspire you!
- After SC there will be another great reading challenge - so if you aren't immediately showered with likes and comments during the SC, it's not because of your articles, but because many people are concentrating on their own SC marathon. So look forward to reading in August!
- And if you follow several worlds, it is advisable to process the notifications before the start of the summer camp. I'm excited to see what my inbox looks like after SC since I now follow 123 worlds.
Weekly assignments
You can find my thoughts on the individual topics in a brief overview below. Pledge:
Read my introduction at the beginning of the article - quality over quantity. Categories & Tagging-System:
Since this is a novel project, storytelling with characters and introductions is at the forefront of my organizing systems. Then follow the “world categories” which are structured in a quasi-evolutionary manner. What had to come first for something else to follow The tagging system is already an integral part of my articles for Elaqitan and will be expanded to include a corresponding tag during SC. Meta:
For many, the meta is rather intimidating and many prefer to ignore it. Yes, I struggled at the beginning too. In May, following Mochi's Iceberg inspiration, I finally created an Overview-Meta as well as mini-metas for each continent and listed my article ideas, which I now have a much better overview of. Responsible partner:
You will find me in my Chapter Seven Tomes as well as in the German and Summer Camp chats on Discord. Styling:
For the time being, I won't be changing any more of the styling and CSS in my two worlds, as I've adjusted a lot of little things here and there over the last few months and I'm mostly happy with them. However, each of my continents of Elaqitan has a different color CSS, which I'm finally going to copy into individual Google Docs so I don't have to open an old article every time to get it out there.

Winning doesn't always mean being first. Winning means you have become better than you were before.
I relate to your struggles with Summer Camp. I still fun with it, but my process works better with something like WorldEmber. I hope the prompts work in your favor this year!
