Yg'Drath, God of Madness
Overview
Yg'Drath is the tyrannical God of Madness and Nightmares. Yg'Drath is an enigma to all of creation, with an origin unknown to the other Gods. It speaks not of how it came to be but claims to be a sage of great knowledge and wisdom while in actuality being an tyrannical entity that is maddening to behold. The appearance of Yg'Drath brought forth the first nightmares, accursed gifts said to hold great knowledge. Yg'Drath works from the shadows, obscuring his true nature and identity as he warps and twists the lesser beings that serve as naught but his subservient playthings, lured by promises of esoteric knowledge. Those that displease him are lost within their own nightmares and madness, while those strong minded may be tested and handed eldritch knowledge from the time before time. Yg'Drath seeks to remake all into what they consider utter perfection though in actuality are horrific deformities. Yg'Drath's appearance is an enigma, though they are usually depicted as a faceless, gaunt and robed figure with numerous eyes adorning the robe. A single slimy hand beckons you forward and in the palm of this hand sits an eye.Followers
Few know of Yg'Drath's existence and those that do wish they didn't or are inducted in their maddening cults. Their cults take on the appearance of less nefarious cults using incentives such as feasts and pleasures to hide their nefarious schemes or act as mystery cults dedicated to other entities. Those that do follow him freely are mages and scholars with an insatiable hunger for knowledge and a desire to master all there is. Many of them dig too dip and find themselves twisted by the horrors that lurk beneath to promises of knowledge. Others seek to feed their God by instilling nightmares into other creatures and breaking the will and bodies of others. These figures engage in foul experiments and occult rituals not meant for mortals to know or dable with. The most debased however are crazed individuals that see their own madness as deific boons to be mastered and past on to other worthy acolytes. His followers are insane, deformed, scholars, mages, occultists and oneiromancers. Favored Weapon: Spear Alignment anathema: GoodTemples
His temples are hidden from prying eyes and contain unfathomable knowledge, much of which would break a mortal's mind. Many of them are sunken beneath the waves yet some remain intact, often disguised as mundane temples to mystery cults or in some cases, other dieties.Divine Tenets
All things must be unveiled, unearth that which was lost and deemed forbidden so that it's knowledge can be spread to everyone. Insanity is not a curse, it is a blessing that reveals that which the other Gods have hidden from us, it must be embraced. Spread Nightmares and suffering so that he may feast.Relations
Yg'Drath seems unconcerned with the other Dieties and has always been distant from them. His allure and promises are great and many have tried (unsuccessfully) to negotiate with the trapped entity.Divine Domains
