Necrochanging Disease

Herbert uses syringes to inject his direct underlings with the disease, who immediately gain the strongest symptoms of the disease. Then they infect other living beings the same way any other undead would: Biting, scratching and any other way to make contact with blood.

The virus's Patient Zero has always been Herbert, who has created the Disease and chooses to infect willing and unwilling servants with the purest form of the disease.

The main symptoms of the Necrochanging Disease are:

• Undeath
 
• The victims of the disease are immediately transformed into the undead, and can't die by natural means
• Changing The disease also changes the patients into creatures, whose power depend on the stage of the disease when transmitted.

The form change is particularly vile, for every day, the infected are forced to change into their form. They also can't change out of it freely, and have to rely on their force of willpower to change painlessly. Additionally, every person that gets infected by a Necrochangling becomes a more irrational and beastly creature who is less powerful than the one who has infected it. This continues until the lowest forms of life has been reached, and the minds of victims are completely consumed by the disease.

To this day, no efficient cure outside of magic has been found for this disease. Some people have learned to control their beastly form, but have yet to accept their state of undeath and post-mortal servitude to Orcus. Thus, a cure for the disease is being sought hastily.   But so far, only one method remains: Kill the person who infected you with the disease. This act severs the magic tie between you and the one who infected you and will completely cure you.

After some time, depending on the stage of transmission and the force of willpower from the infected, the infected will permanently become a slave to Herbert West's cult. This will always happen, but no one can put a finger on it how long it will take until it happens.
