The Old Town Well
The old town well is the oldest part of town. It was the center of a witchcraft coven called The Sacred Well Circle. They began to go underground or hide their affiliations, and soon a trading post was started. It began to grow into a small town, but no one really knew about the blemish at the heart of the town, or if they did, they pretended that they didn't.
Some say that the old well is dry. Those closest to the Circle say that there is water in the old well, but that it is as close to poison as you can get. The years of demonic activity surrounding the well infected the water and turned it into something nefarious. No one gets close enough to confirm that who isn't part of the Circle.
Purpose / Function
The original well was built for the surrounding farmland for the farmers to feed their animals. The well eventually was tainted, and later went completely dry.

The well is a simple stone structure in the center of town.
History
It was originally built in 1693 for a small settlement to have access to water. More sources to water were found, and the need for the well lessened. The biggest draw to the well was a coven of witches that would frequently gather around the well on a full moon. They were seen less and less in public, but oddly enough, their influence was seen more and more.
