The Creation
The creation of the Deities
At the beginning of time was Meneus, the God of Knowledge, who was in a deep slumber. In this slumber he had a dream, more akin to a nightmare, where he had an evil twin called Entimeneus. Suddenly he was awoken from the slumber and his nightmare had spawned another god matching his dream. Entimeneus was a harbinger of the elements, and spawned forth from him the elemental chaos. From the amalgamation of the elements and the raw power of Entimeneus there quickly spawned Estra and the River Arcanus, and Gernan the beastmaster. This is known as the initial spawning, and these four deities are considered the four major deities. Meneus, quickly realising the disorder that was prevailing in the universe, put a plan of action in to fix the realms. He set Gernan in charge of managing the various abominations that spawned from the elemental and arcane chaos. He became the ruler of this plane, dubbing it as the Abyss, where foul and abominable creatures roamed. Meneus also created another God, a new one in his image, Tolo the machination of Old. Tolo was tasked with hindering the plans of Entimeneus and slowing the spreading chaos. He would trick Gernan and Estra to conceive a child together that would be used against Entimeneus. This deceit worked, but the products were horrific. From the union spawned two abominable beings, the Abomination of Life and the Abomination of Death. Realising his mistake, Meneus banishes the two Abominations to a new realm crafted out of minor flows of the elemental chaos. The two abominations were trapped at the core of this planet, their energy slowly seeping out to plague its surface. Primus, the manifestation of the flow of time and order decides to step in and deal with the quarrels of the Gods at this point. He creates a system of planets that would balance out the one created, and creates three more deities dubbed "The Mothers" to watch over the universe together. The mothers include the Gravemother, designed to manage the balance of life and death appearing on the planet, the Lawmother, designed to manage the quarrels of all beings, and the Warmother, designed to manage the chaos best in a channelled form. He finally created the Greatmother to manage these three mothers. The Greatmother, being the embodiment of protection and caring, saw that the creatures being created on the planet were suffering, so she and Gernan came together to birth The Grand Illuminous, which sat in the sky as the sun on his own plane of existence, providing light to all creatures. Finally, the Greatmother layed with Entimeneus in an attempt to quell his passions and malice, and from her came Inegus the smith. The creation of the world
The planet below the gods was filled with life, and it was truly a spectacle to behold. The heavens were enjoying their newfound peace, but that peace was very fragile, and the slightest disruption to the cosmic fabrics could sever it. The way the gods saw it, the Abyss and the Material could potentially pose a severe threat. In the Abyss, there was beings of near-godlike power emerging that could potentially threaten the order. Inegus saw this, and seeing as none of the other gods were doing anything, decided to take matters into his own hands. He travelled to the planet were there was two intelligent species, the Gnomes and the Progenitors. Inegus gave the gnomes control over craftsmanship and the progenitors control over agriculture. This became known as The Awakening. After the awakening, the gnomish and progenus civilizations quickly developed, and they found each other and swapped knowledges producing one supreme set of civilized cultures with farming and crafting. The other gods saw this and came to the conclusion that this civilization that the gnomes and progenitors were creating would threaten the heavens. As punishment for Inegus's actions, they locked him in a prison on his own plane, which became called 'Hell'. The heavens then convened and decided upon a course of action. They determined that they needed a set of watchers on the planet that would keep the intelligent races in check. This was the birth of Dragis, the father of the dragons. Dragis was tasked with being the watcher, but he was lazy, so he decided that the best way to do his job was to scorch the earth and leave. The First Apocalypse left the planet an almost desolate place. The intelligent races barely survived. The progenitors were split up into the Drouer and the Helva. Famously, this is when Primus caged himself within Mechanus. It was his sacrifice that allowed the last of the world to remain intact, and the delicate order of the realms was held together through his extratemporal power. Once again, the Gods convened realising that that solution was a failure. They decided that instead all intelligent beings would be sent to be punished when they die. Their sin being that they rivalled the gods. So, they created the 5 archdevils and gave each of them a section of Hell to enact their various punishments. However very quickly they realised that there was so much dead that they needed further levels of hell, and they created the 16 devils corresponding to the personality traits that they punished, each running their own unique punishments. The Drouer eventually diverged into the Halflings and the Dwarves due to geographical separation. However the Helva were being watched much more closely by the heavens. These beings were the most likely to develop a heaven-rivalling civilization. So Meneus ran an experiment, he chose a small subset of a thousand Helva and gave them a puny lifespan of a hundred years to see if this would slow them down. They became known as the Humans. Humans with their short lifespan multiplied and spread rapidly, and developed their kingdoms and cities faster than before. In a different tactic, Meneus chose another group of Helva and made them have a lifespan of many millenia, and they became the High Elves, compared to the now called Elves. The High Elves were given their own continent on the planet, where they developed into a radical civilization. The High Elven civilization mysteriously met their end soon after.Remove these ads.
