Kra

Kra is a planet in the Ember Red-22 solar system inhabited by several sapient species. Kra has two natural satellites, with different names depending on the region, including The Twins and The Eyes.   Kra's most advanced societies have barely entered what an Earthling would call the Bronze Age, and many still live in prehistorical times. For this reason, this is the only world not aware of the existance of other inhabited planets (in contrast with other worlds in which a few select individuals are aware of our existence).

Sapient species

Thassari

The Thassari are a immediately recongizable by their blue skin and large eyes. They are capable of breathing underwater, but they require fresh air from time to time—similarly, they can live on the surface for long periods of time, but they need to go back underwater reguarly.   From the back of their heads grow a set of appendages that might pass as thick hair at first, but on closer inspection appear to have their own bone structure. These appendages are extremely sensitive and let Thassari detect the smallest change in temperature, air or water current, and more.   More information: Thassari

Otterlings

Otterlings are a fur-covered humanoid species that live in volcanic environments. In spite of their name, otterlings keep their distance from water and instead prefer the welcoming warmth of lava lakes. As far as I know, they are the only sapient species in the universe capable of resisting such high temperatures.   Due to their natural habitat, their main hubs of activity are isolated from the rest of the world. However, their seemingly innate curiosity and easy-going personalities make them the species that has spread the most all around the world.

I'll have to wait a couple of millenium to do so ethically, but one day I'd like to take an otterling to Earth. Would an otterling's daemon be an otter? How would they react to a real otter? If I didn't have more serious matters to worry about, these would be the questions that would keep me up at night

Trunari

A Trunari's most recognisable facial feature is a trunk, similar to that of an elephant. Its size increases with age, but it generally doesn't reach below the waist. This trunk, other than being very useful for holding objects, gives Trunaris a very keen sense of smell.   Their civilization started in the depths of the Crimson woods. However, most Trunaris no longer live in these forests and instead have settled in city states scattered all around the continent. Their cultures tend to place a great deal of importance on hierarchies and formal organization.   More information: Trunaris

Murrows

While Murrows could initially be confused for a small human, they stand out thanks to their colorful hair and, of course, their pointed floppy ears. Their hair can grow in different colors (typically purple, brown, and red hues), and any given individual will generally have several shades of the same color. Their ears tend to dangle when they're relaxed, but they have full control over their movement, which gives them incredible hearing.   They are the shortest of the four species, and many of them inhabit caves deep undeground, thanks to their dark vision. However, they are not isolated from the world at all—you can often find wandering Murrows travellers and they will welcome members of any species among their numbers.

The Lumes

The Lumes are a mystery, and they shall stay a mystery.
— Overheard from a Trunari priest.
The Lumes are a species of giant animals with a general body shape that is similar to an arachnid. Eight long legs grow from their long and slim torso, and a pair of large beady eyes rest on a triangular head. Their body is covered by colored markings that glow faintly in the dark. The markings can apparently be of any color, but they are never multi-color.   Considered gods by many people, Lumes seem to be a special kind of spark, similar in nature (though not physicality) to those found on Einya. They can fully interact with the physical plane and seem to be at least self-aware. However, unlike sparks, they die in the physical plane—or at least their bodies do.   What sets Lumes apart is their ability to produce magical-imbued substances, the exact effects of which appear to be random. The Lumes live in a sort of symbiosis with the four sapient species: they use the Lumes' magical substances for their own purposes and, in exchange, they let them come into contact with civilization. For unknown reasons, the Lumes need frequent contact with sapient species—during my exploration through the wilderness, I found several Lume corpses that seemed to die due to not finding their way to nearby settlements.

Channeling

One day, after realising that I hadn't seen anyone channeling in public, I decided to do it. It was nothing, just the right amount of energy to cook my meal, but a squad of guards approached and I was banished from the city right away. I was able to go back with a different appearence, but I was careful to never channel in public again.

Very few individuals are capable to channel directly, and those who do either hide their powers or are banished from society. As Lumes are often revered as gods, channeling seems toe be viewed as stealing something from the gods. This attitude towards channeling is especially prominent in Trunari settlements, whereas otterlings and Murrows tend to be wary but accepting of channels.   So, while pure channeling exists, the power is most commonly used through the Lumes—channelers that use the Lumes' power are known as Whisperer. From time to time, they produce a variety of substances that can be used to fuel channeling. These substances are one-use only.

Political organization

Most people still live under a tribal structure, especially Thassari and Murrows. The leaders of neighbouring clans meet regularly to decide on common goals, but they are generally quite independent.   Otterlings are organised in communities with a loose structure: people are free to leave or join any community, and they don't have a formal leadership.   Loxodonts are the most organized ones and the builders of the first walled cities. Many of them still live in clans, but those who have founded cities now rule over city-states with a firm organisation and structure.
