The Bleak Order

The Holy Order of the Bleak Guardians of the Mortal Divide is a holy fraternity of paladins, clerics, and an assortment of others all united with the goal to keep life and death separate. They view Vanith Thrax as their patron, and their action in service to them.

Structure

Abbeys

  The organization is based in semi-autonomous Each abbey is administered by a Fodre. Usually a abbey has a Patrol of Knights attached to it.

Executive

  The Grandmaster (Commander-in-Chief/ Chief Executive Officer) Has Absolute Authority over all aspects of the Order   Magnus Commendator (Military Commander/Deputy Grandmaster) Head of all military Excursions, head of Paladins   Hospitalrius (Chief Cleric) Head of all non military Operations, Head of Clerics, priests  

Administration

Chancellor Exchequer (Treasurer) Organizes all gold income and expenses   Quartermaster General In charge of organizing use of material and Manpower  

Paladins

Knight Commander: Commanders are in charge of a Troop, and have equal authority to a Fodre, temporary rank granted to a Knight Hunter to be put in charge of a Troop which is made of two Cohorts.   Knight Hunter: Hunters are in charge of Cohorts, and have equal authority to a Fodre. A Cohort usually has 5 patrols within it.   Knight Corporal: Corporals are put in charge of Patrols, and have the same authority as a Grave Bearer. A patrol usually has 1 Corporal, and 4 Knights Loyal, along with 15 squires.   Knight Loyal: The Enlisted rank of knights   Squire: Initiate level of the order, the most common rank, usually children raised by the order or sent into their service by their parents.  

Clerics

  Fodre: Fodres are in charge of abbeys They are the highest ranked clerics out side of the central higherarchy.   Grave Bearer: A Grave Bearer is charged with burying the dead, and making sure they stay that way.   Fosser: While Grave Bearer do the actual burial, Fosser are charged with the digging of graves.   Postulant: The lowest ranked cleric in the order, Postulants do most of the grunt work.

Public Agenda

Members of the order follow three tenets   The Dead are dead, and should remain dead When a mortal soul leaves the material realm, its journey is finished. Souls returned to the mortal realm must be sent to rest at all costs   The Bleak Order hunts Vampires, Liches, Necromancers, and all other manner of unlife that exist are the enemy of the Order. The order looks to keep balance between life and the after life. They see themselves as Guardians of Death’s Door. The Bleak Order does not

Generally small abbeys spread very far across the continent, generally in out of the way places.

History

Founded at some point after the collapse of the Second Era, in response to the massive necromantic practices that spread across the continent of Notria.
