Knight

Knighthood is both a military and noble rank in the lands of Erikan Isthmus and Tivel. Knights are low ranking noblity, many of which are not landed.    There are two types on knights, Order Knights, and Landed Knights. Order Knights have received their knighthood through service to a religious or secular chivalric orders. These knights are usually from noble backgrounds, though not necessarily, and their titles are not heritable (in most cases).   Landed knights are granted their rank by a lord of a province, and in addition to the respect and honor that comes with knighthood they are also given an estate. Generally their estate is equivalent to that of a baron, however it is less presigious.
