Coffee
Coffee is a very popular drink among the settled peoples of Notria, particulalry arond the Jukano Gulf.
Manufacturing process
The Beans are grown on various islands across the gulf, and in parts of Sunotria. The largest organized plantations are in the Makar Lowlands on Chelok, and the island of Serun. The coffee fruits are gatherd and the beans are seperated, dried and roasted.
The beans are then shipped across the gulf, and when the arrive at their destination they are ground and used to brew the actual coffee.
People add all sorts of things to the drink, including in somecases magical ingrediants to give the already caffinated drink a boost. A common mix is a drink called a Crimson, where the coffee is mixed with a healing potion. This enhances the healing of the potion and effects of the caffination.
Significance
Coffee is seen as a drink for the elite and refined, it is enjoyed by nobles and wealthy burgers in the coastal cities of Kingdom of Tiveldech, and Kingdom of Erikadia. In the Thalassocracy of Chel the beverage is far more common, being drunk by people of all economic levels.
It is considered a semi-holy drink by the followers of Sephan who drink it in their services, and served to those enjoying the comforts of their temples.
