Magi Crystal

If one were to ever become a serious user of magic, the Magi Crystal would be one of the most must have items in a magic master's inventory as it helps conduct a Magi's magic and strengthens their power and easier for controlling said magic.

Color

It's clear like a diamond but will change color once after a Magi attunes it with their style of magic; Red for Fire magic, Blue for Water magic, Pure White for Air magic, Brown or Dark grey for Earth magic, Pale Blue or a Foggy White color for Ice magic. Green for Nature magic, Purple for Lightning magic, Yellow almost like gold for Life magic, and Black for Death magic.

Taste

It's taste is different depending on the type of magic attuned to it; it can taste like snow, bark, dust, minty, cinnamon, numb the tongue, or salty.

Smell

It can smell different depending on the type of magic attuned to it; it can smell like smoke, the ocean or rain, rotten corpses, or even smell like flowers.

Stats

Magi who have attuned their crystals will receive a +1 bonus on any of their rolls and damage or x1 multiplier (when applicable, example for * stats) for every level the crystal has progressed. A crystal will level up when you put your xp into it up to a maximum of 8 levels. however they can be retuned and become even stronger, you keep your + bonus from before and restart the leveling progress but will require x2 multiplier for xp for every time you retune the crystal up to a maximum of 8 times. (one could potentially have a +64 bonus or a x64 multiplier on their magic based rolls and effects.

Attuning

To attune a crystal, it first must be refined to fit the Magi's current style of magic then they must roll a DC=10+attempts-User's level to attune it by storing some of their magic power into it. Then it has been attuned and will give off energy according to the style of magic that put into it. To retune the crystal you must first fully progressed it levels to 8 and then roll a DC=10+2*amount of retunning+attempts-User's level. Then after that it will become even much more powerful and tougher to break.

Properties

Material Characteristics

it looks like any kind of crystal but glows in the dark and is smooth to the touch and sharper than obsidian, feels like a polished stone and leaves off a glittering dust on the one's hands.

Physical & Chemical Properties

depending on the type of magic the holder is more attuned with, changes the temperature, texture and smell: Those who are attuned to fire magic will feel the crystals becoming hot to the touch and feel like ash and coal while a Ice magi will feel that their crystals are very cold and feel like ice.

Geology & Geography

They are found in caves deep underground across the world in small clusters making them very rare but the largest deposit exists in eastern Sitora where the Gnomans have fully monopolized the crystals.

Life & Expiration

They can be used theoretically forever as long as there is a user that keeps using the crystals frequently, as they can age and deteriorate after the first time they are used, making them become less powerful throughout time when not frequently used like a muscle almost. This is because the energy left behind could damage the crystal if left in for too long and requires it be used frequently to keep the energy pumped through it like a heart almost.

History & Usage

History

They have been the desired mineral amongst Magi of Bi'Terra for their magic enhancing abilities and magic storing capabilities: Able to store one's magic, copying it and able to give it to another to become attuned with magic.

Everyday use

It is used by mages to enhance their magic capabilities and magic prowess. however some will use them for enchanting items but that would require a strong enough gemstone to harness it's power into a nonliving object.

Refinement

it can be used in it's raw state but can become even stronger and tougher when it's been heated up near melting point, molded and shaped in a different shape (depending on the kind of magic the user is more attuned to) and then hardened, making it more powerful and tougher to destroy and age.

Hazards

if one were to use this without properly focusing and attuning one's magic into the crystal it can and most likely explode.

Distribution

Trade & Market

Magi Crystals can be purchased directly from mines and are a hefty price; however they become even more expensive for how powerful the crystal is and even more expensive for who the original owner could have been or sometimes what type of magic is attuned to it.

Storage

somewhere dry(or wet if one was a water magic user) and at room temperature.

Law & Regulation

Only merchants who have a license can sell them at a shop and you need to have a permit to buy them which you can get from a College of magic. however in eastern Sitora the regulations are not so strict over there.
