Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf N
The Panzer III Ausf N is the last in the range of Panzer III vehicles, appearing in late 1943. The vehicle mounts a new 75mm gun that can be fitted into the existing turret ring, while the armor thickness has been upped to a point where the weight of the vehicle is on the verge of stressing the engines. The modifications give the Panzer III a boost but still at this late stage in the war (1943) it is outclassed by opposition tanks, now the Panzer III is issued as a combat support vehicle to defend Tiger tank formations from infantry or flank attacks.
