Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf L
Once again design changes to the Panzer III resulted in another model, the Ausf L. This time around design changes were largely implemented to speed the production of vehicles. Such as the deletion of the vision port in the gun mantlet for the loader along with other side ports on the turret, and hull escape hatches. At the same time extra spaced armour plates were added to the turret and hull.
A special system was also included where heater engine coolant could be piped between vehicles in order to heat the frozen engine of another vehicle - this was a modification brought on by the cold climiate conditions of Russia, where some crews had to light fires under their vehicles to prevent the engines from freezeing into a solid block!
