Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf J

The Panzer III Ausf J was nick named the Mark Three Special by the British who fought against them in North Africa. As the Panzer III continued to advance in model design the Ausf J saw changes to the length of the hull and engine deck, while the hull mounted machine gun received a ball mounting arangement. This was combined with a number of minor changes such as upper hull access hatches being changed from a two peice configureation to a single peice.

The origional order for the Panzer III Ausf J was for 900 machines, but this was later changed to 2700 vehicles with the Ausf J model seeing action on the Russian and North Africa fronts.
