Military Swords
By the time of the Second World War, the sword has become an item of the ceremony, carried by officers as a symbol of rank rather than a true combat weapon. Many officers' swords, although sharp, are merely showpieces. The last remaining military office where the sword was both ceremonial and a functional battlefield weapon was the Japanese military officers class.
