University of Andermayne
The university of Andermayne is a highly exclusive university run by the ruling class of the Astasian confederacy. It seeks to instil the political, business and cultural knowledge central to confederate ideology onto their children to make them effective rulers and bring further prosperity to their families. It is directly run by the house of guilds, the upper house of the confederate grand council that represents the corporate conglomerates of the ruling class.
Structure
At the top of the University is the headmaster, in this case it is Rupert Dorian. He is cheif administrator of the university. His personal project is to modernize cerriculum of the school and to a lesser extent drill his personal political message. He greatly dissaproves of the recent international push for anti Imperialism and whants to make his students strong enough to fight against it.
Bellow him are collage faculty who are the head teachers of each collage. They ensure that the many classes within each collage are keeping up with carriculum expectations. After them of course are the class professors
Proffesors are assisted in some cepacity by student prefects and lodge heads. They are tasked with keeping an eye on other students to ensure they are keeping to the behavoural standard expected of them.
Culture
The university wants to install mindsets of superiority and competitiveness into their students. Thus students are obligated to participate in extra vocational activities mostly involving sports, intellectual ability and the arts of which the university has a proud competitive history.
Students often join secretive student societies known as lodges such as the Bell club and the Rosemont gals society. Little is known about these lodges but behind the parties, alcohol and flashy atmosphere it is speculated that this is where the pupils make the bonds and alliances they will carry into adulthood when navigating the cutthroat world of Astasian politics. Students may also join the youth wings
Those students who may want to enter politics may join the youth wing of their respected guilds where they are shown the inner workings of the house of guilds and how they function in the confederate council. This is seen as a means of getting a foot in the door of council politics.
A notable feature among the Astasian elite is striking facial scarring. These are scars from Sablia. A harsh style of fencing named after the Leshkian style saber they use. Apparently it has become a bit of an obsession among the ruling class who frequently challenge each other to matches for the smallest slights. For the longest time it was a male only sport but 1820 ladies were permitted to practice the sport as well. Students fight in a thick padded coat with a traditional tri corner hat with a sash around their waist featuring the colours of their club or dueling school. The swiftest way to end a duel is by striking the head which commonly leaves a scar. Sometimes pupils pull apart the healing cuts to exacerbate the scars.
Public Agenda
Academic divisions of the University
Hane collage of planting and agrarianism
Main benefactor: Guild of planters Hane collage is dedicated to teaching the overseeing of agricultural based businesses which is seen as the backbone of the Confederacy. The traditional ruling class are wealthy planters and this is where they enrol their heirs and heiresses. They have classes for growing specific cash crops and have collective classes on crop efficiency, marketing and planting innovation and how best to utilise slave labour as does almost every other collage of the university. This involves racial compatibility with certain jobs, overseeing, labour methods, law and punishment and maintenance. It also teaches various questionable business practices such as debt trapping, land grabbing and various harmful and unsustainable methods of land usage. The children of the incredibly powerful Beuvaent and Price planter families have a son and daughter enrolled here and are rumoured to be in a relationship.Barnham collage of mining and resource extraction
Main benefactor: Society of ore lords Barnham collage is dedicated to the education of aspiring mine bosses known in the Confederacy as Ore lords. Most of the pupils here hail from the colonies or overseas domains of the confederacy and are shown how to implement maximum yield with no regard for sustainability. Traditionally the oar lords have stuck to extracting gold, gems, diamonds, magic amplifiers, crude oil and coal, but as the Confederacy pushes further into undiscovered lands of the mysterious 'Far realm' a wide array of resources such as a wider verity of magic amplifiers, rare minerals and natural gas the collage have been identified. resulting in a new push to educate pupils in more modern and diverse means of resource extraction. This however does not include improved conditions for labourers. Pupils are encouraged to put enslaved and indentured work forces through horrific conditions to better protect their fully employed workers and pay them well. Five generations of the Warren family have attended this collage.Larker collage of Slavery
Main benefactor: Grand order of slavers No doubt the most infamous practice of the confederacy is taught in its most prestigious and most sinister collage. The old slaver families consider themselves and their trade to be the life blood of the confederacy as almost all other major industries utilise slave labour to the point where the vast wealth of the confederacy has become almost entirely dependent upon it. The collage teaches every aspect of the slave trade such as which species are better suited to which jobs and how to set up effective breeding programs. Rumor has it they also hold classes on establishing effective people trafficking networks. The Royce family have great influence in Larker college and have enrolled a daughter here.Jutman private military collage
Main benefactor: National defence coalition of Astasia Owning or working for a private military company is seen as a highly respectable profession in Astasia. It was largely private armies that unified the domains into the confederacy and so the private military sector is closely connected to the ruling class government. Operating more as a separate military academy this collage training it's students to be effective military commanders as well as putting students through harsh front line training designed to give them the knowledge to become hardened mercenaries. Blackwood private operations supplies weapons and trainers to this collage and many of their operatives send their children here.Shelby collage of magic refining and mantic innovation
Main benefactor: Astasian mancist brotherhood Shelby collage teaches the children of mancists who are the industrialists and innovative sorcerers who refine and concentrate magic and produce mantic products. This collage works closely with Barman and Hane collages as some of the most powerful amplifiers of concentrated magic are naturally occurring minerals and plants. Along with teaching students the industrial extraction and concentration of magic, Shelby opens them up to the latest advancements in mantic technology and the multitude of opportunities to branch out into other fields of mantic industries. Shelby instills the feeling of supremacy in terms of mancy as only people of whom the confederacy refers as the 'Sable nations' are permitted to practice mancy. In order to enrol properly at this college one must possess a mancy license but they provide schooling and run the necessary tests. The Hollister family have enrolled their son Jayce in this college who is studying for a career in medical mancy.Other collages

Crown prince Maximillian of Catherina founded the university five years after the formation of the Confederacy. Not content with simply being a founding father of the nation he wanted to leave a lasting legacy and so founded the university. He believed that without the proper guidence the children of the rulling class of Astasia would fall too relaxed with privilege to the point where the confederacy would become decedent. He wanted a place where their youth would be educated on how to maintain their affluent status, compete politicaly with the house of statesmen (the more political faction of the grand council), compete economically with the rest of the world, build an empire and teach the ideals that make up the confederate way of life. Gaining the assistence of his fellow industrialists he converted a grand summer estate of an enemy of confederation into the original school, the campus whould grow around it in years to come. It is now the most prestegious university in the Confederacy producing top intelectuals, industrialists and leaders who have taken the nation to greater and greater hights for more than a century.
