De'ro's Butchers.
De'Ro's Campaign against the Gnolls was a large story, yet the larger conflict was that within the city, during his campaign. As De'Ro left the city his people led a rebellion against the throne that had allowed the fighting to get so bad in the first place. The arrogants nobility died in their chairs of power. Their blood filling the hallways, powder rooms, bedrooms, and every other part of the castle. There was not a noble left alive that night.

With their slaughter began the time of emperors, the war ended and the City-State of Rakai became the country of Rakai, and as it grew it became an empire. Without greed and chaos holding the reigns of power, and a reasonable sort of person running things the empire expanded well.
