Promise Keepers of Bossae

"Oh dearie put away your weapon, you have no reason to fear me. You who have never broken their word once in their life, oh Auntie Gertrude is no threat to you. Him on the other hand has broken many promises and now must see a consequence." Auntie Gertrude Promise Keeper of Bossae, Nighthag.   Promise Keepers are important to Bossae filling the role of paladins dedicated to Bossae and the Law of Promise these promise keepers are those who punish oathbreakers and at times reward those who stick to their promises even when it takes a heavy toll. Many of the Promise Keepers are hags but there are times when such a hag takes on a charge of another race, usually male as females are often made into new hags. These children are raised to value a promise and even can become Promise Keepers themselves. A promise keeper can be determined by a supernatural tattoo or brand that forms around the collar bone. This takes the form of a chain with the ends meeting at the adam's apple (or voicebox depending on the race), these chains are held together with a lock. No magic can produce a true replica, scholars believe that because it is a symbol of a promise and an illusion being a lie it simply cannot do so as it fundamentally goes against its purposes. It is believed that should someone become tattooed in such a way either by a Promise Keeper, a vow to Bossae, or even by mundane means it is still a pledge to Bossae and becomes binding.
