The Incorporation of the City of Aberston

The Incorporation of the City of Aberston is a proposed charter that seeks to formally unite the three towns of Stannerton, Easton, and Wheaton - once distinct coastal settlements - into a single legal and administrative entity: the City of Aberston. Thought the name has already taken root in common usage, the official charter remains stalled, caught in a tangled web of civic rivalry, noble interests and ecclesial interference. Drafted by the Council of Guilds and Civil Chamber, the charter outlines the creation of a new Cabinet of Aberston, replacing the outdated Civil Chamber with a streamlined executive led by a single Lord Provost. It proposes the redistribution of ward boundaries, unified taxation, joint resource management, and the appointment of a shared The Lord Chief Justice. Supporters of the charter argue it will end centuries of duplication, corruption, and inefficient governance. They envision a modern, centralised Aberston; better defended, better organised, and better positioned to rival the likes of the City Of Pensan or Lannvorek Cove. Opponents, however, view the move as a power grab. The noble houses of Wheaton fear losing ancestral authority. Easton's working class distrusts a system likely to be dominated by merchant elites. Stannerton, already riddled with The Order of the Cups operatives, has refused to sign until "cultural protections" are enshrined. Despite the deadlock, one thing is clear: Aberston can no longer function as three cities in uneasy alliance. The charter represents a turning point, toward unity or fracture. Copies of the document, both signed and redacted, circulate in shadow markets. Some say The Order of the Cups already has a finalised version, and they're simply waiting for the rest of the city to catch up.
