Sisters of the Light

Sisters of the Light of the Apostolic Martyr are nursing nuns within the Archdiocese of the Most Eminent Holy Ecclesium of the Apostolic Martyr. Divided into three branches, they serve across Aberston offering medical care, end-of-life comapnionship and spiritual solace. Sisters of the First Light, in Easton Barracks, wear light grey habits and focus on the wounded and recovering, especially soldiers and low-ranking officers. Sisters of the Last Light, in Aberston Naval Hospital, wear dark blue habits and care for sailors and the dying. Sisters of Enlightenment, based at The Monastery of the Ecclesium wear white habits and serve as the theological and mystical core of the order, while also caring for the brothers of The Monastery of the Ecclesium. Each Sister wears a white rope of belt from which hangs a small vial of Watersoul, a red-glowing, soul-tethering substance said to link them to the divine. Their order is led by the Enlightened Mother, whose word is final in both doctrine and deployment. Their daily work involves not only physical care but also prayerful observation of the Fog of Age, Jungle-Lung, and other chronic or magical conditions. While they are not always specialists, their quiet resilience and ritual presence make them indispensable in long-term recovery and palliative environments. Though revered by many, some fear their presence as an omen; believing that where the Sisters walk, death is near. The Sisters themslves reject this, teaching instead that to serve the body is to honour the soul, and that no soul should cross alone.
