Durumium (Dr-oo-Mee-Uhm)
Properties
Material Characteristics
Durumium is a silvery metal, with a hint of green in it. It is very malleable and is insulative against electricity, and is commonly used for metallic areas that need to be resistant to electricity. It is commonly used on pliers and other tools.
Physical & Chemical Properties
Durumium is a soft metal, with a melting point of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. It is insulating and does not carry an electrical current through it. It is also very malleable.
Compounds
Durumium is commonly mixed with other metals to make them less conductive, or more malleable. It does, however, decrease the strength of the metal.
Geology & Geography
Durumium is commonly found in Golden Spire or Jackson's Volcano, where it is forged in the intense heat and collects in pools.
Origin & Source
Durumium is found in pools underground, where it melts from Durumite ore.
Life & Expiration
Durumium does not rust and is very stable.
History & Usage
Discovery
Durumium was first discovered in 25201, and it is unknown by whom. Its properties were not discovered until several hundred years later.
Everyday use
Durumium is used for sensitive equipment, and storm shelters. They are also used in tools for delicate processes.
Industrial Use
Durumium is commonly combined with steel to create Mollum, a tough and insulative metal. Notable distributers of Mollen include Ridgerton and Fortison.
Refinement
It is taken outside of the mountains and left in cool areas to harden and is then transported to factories to turn into Mollum.
Manufacturing & Products
Durumium has many uses, ranging from pliers to soundproofing rooms. Some of these examples include:
- Tools that work with technological equipment
- Soundproof rooms
- Helmets during thunderstorms
- Thermometers
Hazards
Durumium has a special property when it is in liquid form- the fumes given off by the liquid are a type of hallucinogen, and are extremely addictive.
Distribution
Trade & Market
Durumium is a semi-common metal, and is commonly sold by Ridgerton or Fortison all across Beland.
Storage
Dumurium is stored in bars at cool temperatures, and in large heat-resistant tubs in warm temperatures.
