Jamie Winfrey

Jamie Amadeus Myer Winfrey is an American-born politician who would become the President of Aresia in 2321 following the assassination of his predecessor, Dennis Rockefeller. Previously, Winfrey served as a military officer of the NARA party during the Aresian Revolution, before switching to becoming an admiral of the Republic of Aresia's Ground Forces after its formation in 2292. Over the course of the revolution, Winfrey would oversee numerous military campaigns against the dominant British forces, and following the British defeat at the decisive Battle of New Guernsey City in the January of 2300, he would help lead the forces of the AGF to oversee the quelling of any remaining loyalist militias. Following the revolution's end at the hands of the Aresians, Winfrey would remain as an admiral of the Aresian military before stepping down in 2309 to begin a political career, mainly as a loyal member of the NARA party. In the aftermath of the contreversial Aresian presidential election of 2314, Winfrey would ultimately decide to run for the presidential nomination himself, and in the following election of 2318, he would be selected as the running mate for fellow NARA candidate and close ally, Dennis Rockefeller, and would soon be elected as vice president of Aresia following the NARA victory in the election. However, following the assassination of President Rockefeller during an Independence Day parade, Winfrey would assume the presidency, and almost immediately, he would accelerate the conservative and militaristic ideals of the NARA party, while also spreading its influence throughout the country's politics. These policies, however, would conflict with the leftist ideals of the nation's left, such as the Aresian People's Party, which would in turn cause Winfrey to ban the parties and imprison many previous members by force. By the September of 2329, Winfrey had effectively become the nation's despotic and authoritarian dictator, often instigating secret killings against his opposition while increasing his own power as well, and even promoted a cult of personality of his own. On September 27th, Jamie Winfrey after years of consolidating power to himself and the NARA, he would publically announce to the nation his declaration as presiden for life, and at the same time, reorganizing the FRA into a new, ultraconservative and authoritarian state, marking the beginning of the Martian Democratic Republic of Aresia.
