Michelle is most identifiable by her black-to-purple gradient hair that's been a signature part of her personal style since her days at university, having originally dyed it as part of a freshers event during her first year.

Michelle believes strongly in the power of accessories, having multiple sets of jewellery, glasses and clothing for whatever subtle impression she's trying to give off for the day, from the demure enchantress to the no-nonsense woman of influence. Accompanying those is often a spiral-bound reporter's notebook and an expensive fountain pen that was a graduation gift from her mother, keeping her ready to jump back into reporter mode at a moment's notice.

After completing her education, Michelle Van Quinn began her career as an intern at the Bathala Beacon, one of the most prestigious news outlets in Bathala City. During her internship, she impressed her superiors with her dedication, sharp writing skills, and critical analysis. Her ability to provide a fresh perspective on the city's superhero community quickly caught the attention of the editorial team.   Upon completing her internship, Michelle was offered a full-time position as a staff reporter at the Bathala Beacon. Michelle's knack for holding superheroes accountable and scrutinizing their actions made her a rising star in the field of superhero journalism.   As her reputation grew, Michelle was assigned to the specialized "Superhero Affairs" division of the Bathala Beacon. It was this piece, in accordance with the work of other key individuals like Rachel Stevens and Jasmine Walker, that finally saw the country introducing new legislation to reclassify super-powered crime and punish appropriately.

One failure that haunts Michelle is the disappearance of her mentor and inspiration, Gina Matta. Gina taught Michelle everything she knows about hard-hitting journalism and even after using all her investigative skills and even making an ill-advised trip to The Railyard, she was unable to find any leads on what might have happened to the legendary reporter.

Michelle has been blessed with a mind that is both inquisitive and cunning, always looking beyond the basic facts as they're presented to her and searching for the hidden double meanings and selective ommissions but not opposed to using some underhanded tactics to get what she wants. It's this great doggedness that has made Michelle one of the City's go-to authorities on superhero morality and ethics, having been invited on numerous occasions to appear on debates and discussions of the emerging topic.

Her inability to switch off her investigative instincts often complicates personal relationships; friends and potential partners can find her constant overanalysis exhausting, leaving her isolated more often than she'd like to admit. Her brash and demanding nature, though usually well-intentioned, has also led to frequent friction with coworkers. Some even speculate that this may be the real reason she hasn’t risen to a higher position within The Beacon. Michelle's deeply ingrained skepticism and tendency to second-guess others' motives have, on occasion, landed her in trouble; in her zeal, she has published poorly substantiated claims that were later disproven.
