Deymarthan
It was no surprise to anyone with any knowledge of the Nine Hells that Deymartha fell into the worship of Bel after the opening of the Hellgate. While calling it an evil country back then would have been a great stretch, the love of battle and conquest has always run deep in the veins of the Deymarthan people. There was never a greater honor to the Deymarthans than to live, and die, a warrior. It was only natural that the Lord of Avernus would feel a pull in that direction. If there had only been a little more warning, perhaps they would have stood a chance against the archfiend’s army, albeit a small one. Alas, those who stood against the fiends fell quickly; and Bel had those of higher rank who would not pledge allegiance to him publicly executed to be replaced by those who were willing to demean their heritage and agree to serve him.

Naming Traditions
Family names
Shieldcall, Battlerage, Spearraiser, Daggerrend, and Darksiege are all prominent Deymarthan surnames. The vast majority of those with the true blood of Deymartha sport names that are reminiscent of combat and war.
Culture
Common Dress code
Most clothing is simple and utilitarian. Common citizens can wear what they like, although ostentatious clothing is frowned upon. Members of the military are expected to wear their armor and carry their weapons whenever they are out and about.
Art & Architecture
All structures are built with defense in mind. Not a building in Deymartha outside of the poorer sections is built with any but the sturdiest materials. Thick stone walls surround each important city, with the same caution being used around buildings of import and their grounds.
Art, while not uncommon, is not a priority in this country. Nearly all paintings and tapestries that can be found depict scenes of battle and strength. Since Bel's minions took over the country, a great number of these also depict battles in the Blood War between Hell and the Abyss.
Common Customs, traditions and rituals
Twice a year, all children who have reached their twelfth birthday are brought before the local Council of War. They spend a fortnight being tested for combat capabilities, and those found to be promising are given one last night with their families before being transported to one of several training camps that can be found in Deymartha. Here, they start their training in the combat arts and officially inducted into the military. Any who fail to impress their trainers is shamed and sent back home to be condemned to a life of menial labor.
Ideals
Beauty Ideals
What one might look at as conventional beauty is not valued as highly in Deymartha as in other places. The appearance of strength and fitness are the most sought after qualities, with women tending toward shorter and more closely cropped hair, while men tend toward slightly longer hair that can be tied back and tucked under a helm. Angular features are the most common here, while those with softer features tend to be a subject of scorn. Both genders are usually tall, and on average, women are only slightly shorter than the men.
Gender Ideals
Both male and female are expected to be at the peak of fitness.
