Session 82: Animaesus and Tarrasques: Capricious Mortals and Primordials
General Summary
Tenebris needs a means to meet and talk while he researches, especially after seeing the layers and levels of his masters capabilities. So, once in his personal study within the 11th House tower, he attempts to summon Eember, to all her power and tower to get him a means to transport his image and choices across long distances. She agrees, but only because he is nice to offer her a chance at freedom, riding astride one of his adamantine dragons.
Later in the evening, about 6 pm or so, Birdman sets his way to meet with Faurwiin of the 11th House at the Evening Swan, the high end restaurant well known within the Beastcrown.
However, the afternoon's sounds, the hum and drum of what has become the new normal of the City of Salt, is taken over by the howls and cheers, the jeers and baying of the 1st House wolves. From within the city these howls begin, but they are soon answered and retorted from outside the city, at first to the north, and slowly, and finally predominately, to the west, near the Spillway and the main entrance of the City of Salt. Many Lupin arrive this day, to reinforce the 1st House claims over the City of Salt, and to prepare for the upcoming civil, foriegn, or House Wars.
This backdrop, the cacophony, pierces through the meeting of Birdman, Faurwiin's Simulacrum, and Tenebris' image during their meeting at he Evening Swan. Once together, they discuss what Birdman and Tenebris saw, and what the attorney learned, while inside the Beast. The Shadow, Ssech, is impossible to track and find, and eventually, whether the city and House Lords are ready for it or not, the beast will rise. Jacq, the Lord and Deity of Change, an ancient, capricious Primordial of the Nascent Eight--the Animaesus hold his insight dearly--has found candidates for the Shadow of the Beast, and Birdman offers an option that may yet save lives, and provide a change not as dark as what Ssech may seek.
Birdman even clarifies who he has seen--the curse of his Kenku following him, and the fact that it is not here now, shows that Jacq and the Shadow do not want the death of Faurwiin--that his change is yet to been seen by the Change-maker. Yet, Birdman threatens that as an option, yet this not what he truly wishes. There must be another way, another means, to have peace and unity and not endless, ceaseless death of the citizens of Salt. Birdman has changed now, he says again, and again--the shadow will take hold, but he hopes to guide it, and maybe Faurwiin, Tenebris, and the 11th House can assist with that aim.
There is but one option: They must allow the beast to arise.
Faurwiin and Tenebris indeed are skeptical, but they eventually agree. They must go to the other lords, and they must find means to make them agree to give up the connection to the Seals, the Words of Power, and their strength as Binderlords. The must change the perspective, and the subject of the city, the fate of the Beast.
But Faurwiin needs a plan, specific actions.
Birdman questions if the elven lords even really care about the city; why are they so apprehensive to help?
But Faurwiin says, he knows, Birdman is just angry, angry at a void within and around him.
With this, Birdman leave, finds a window in the Evening Swan, breaks it and hops out. He must convince 13 Lords to find means to meet, quickly, and without violence. He offers that they should bring one ally with them, and that the location will be neutral, in the northern part of the Throat. This is an epic task, especially because of the short time frame: Before sunrise.
But, this Birdman, the Shadow of the Beast, or maybe that of the City itself; each Lord or Lady sees the City in strife, and they know they must act.
Tenebris and Faurwiin "return" to the tower, and the vow to attend as well, meeting sometime around midnight. In that time, Tenebris is able to finish his research on ancient Syth alchemy. Faurwiin is able to create another Son, too, Maglor. Tenebris, before resting after his research, crafts another dragon.
Then, about 11pm or so, Amu and Pio meet with Faurwiin and Tenebriss visage. Amu argues that the Binder Lords need to give into the nature of the Beast--it should rise, and continue its a course that it started 300 years ago. Yet, they all know, the lords will cling on to power until even the last moments. But, Amu also warns that if they do not act now, there will nothing but corpses. At least, if they act now, if they evacuate, they might save more lives than if the Tarrasque arises sooner. Killian joins for this meeting as well.
But, they are asking the lords and people to strip away their sense of self, a daunting task for anyone. Not to mention, with the current state of the City, these actions, let alone words, would be treasonous.
They must prepare for the meeting; Birdman has taken great pains, with the 1st House's Help, to arrange this meeting.
It is almost 1am by the time most of the Binderlords have arrived, and then they still must wait a few moments for Mel, Xantha, and Aleplu with Trundle. As the Lords gather, Amu goes to Birdman, and the moustelin and elf talk about the pressures of this upcoming meeting. Birdman then starts to get attention of The 13 Binder Lords , and he takes a rip off of his legendary pipe, Dick The Ripper. He asks the crow save all their questions until the end.
We are the authors of the end of the world as we know it. Birdman claims, passionately. Amu adds, eventually, the time is now the actions are now. Jacq will come. With this, the Animaesus lords and compatriots, even Iniule, the dwarven, druidic Seeker of the 5th House, step forward. Anton initially steps back, then forward, and Xantha and his daughter begin to leave. The whole of the Lords agree, and Aleplu is the first to say so, with Duordein of the 6th House making sure the focus is quick. Amu confirms these actions needs to be. Time is of the essence.
Eember flies astride a dragon above the City.
A wolf howls, the deepest yet, and a figure appears. A monstrous wolf... a rival to the primordial Hawk? The kin to K'ash?
Birdman will need more spinal fluid, and he even shares its potency with the gathering. They must find Ssech.
It is 2am by the time the meeting ends, and the wolves continue to howl in the city, about the city, and the loud baying at the City Entrance.
The 13th House, is the final seal to the agreement, for they saw the fall of Rexaney, and the evil shadow of the beast, Had, perhaps, that the 6th House warns about. Yet, the waters are tainted and destroyed from the earthquakes and other turmoils of the city, and that the 5th and 9th House are attempting to now control those limited resources.
Amu will assist and does so after the meeting. Birdman, before his rest, he sneaks away. The Shadow must learn new dark things. The others rest.
