Session 60: Scallywags and Grey Coasts, Bright Stars, Aerial Choices
General Summary
Outside near the call, Aikhon witnesses as he swims desperately close to kin and enemy, The Faces of the King: their fleet is ransacked by the Kraken, and as it grips one boat and brings it below the depths with great strength, it crushes it and rips it asunder, where only a half dozen or so sailors survive. And the Faces Fleet retaliates in kind, but the angles and depth of the Kraken below ensures the beast will get away with mass murder and destruction.
Yet, aboard the nautiloid ship, Ilknar, G, Mila, Roland, Valia, and Teyos attempt to take the ship, to prevent more taint and destruction upon the bloom the Call, and the other crews wanting to survive this celestial and aberrant event. The are aboard the much larger slave deck of the nautiloid ship, and they are able to convince the remaining human and zile sailors, presumed food for the illithid crew, to arm themselves and get ready for departure. Meanwhile, Ilknar smells something off, and down the hallway, Teyos sees a change in his demeanor. They warn the others, their are aberrations near, and with this foreknowledge, Teyos calls upon the shadows of night, and her magics are able to hide the others and even the giantkin Ilknar as he rages and moves in, slaying one quickly, and dropping another prone. Mila and Roland dash in to assist him, and Valia begins searching rooms.
THe sea elf finds a room for a changed humanoid, something controlled by the an intellect devourer, and a chest full of close, and other chest. However, this is something more akin to an aberrant clam, and when she kicks it open, she finds a small odd, spiked bowl, with a neon green and blue gue within. She takes it with her to slam into the aberration already prone, already being beaten by gnome, human, and giant, really no need for an elf, before Ilknar uses his great axe to chop its head in two.
With this, another telepathic presence, one amongst a dozen or so that still remain in the alien vessel, and its captain speaks. He offers a parlay, one where they join together or leave, and they agree, and they are able to climb up further into the vessel without incurring further attacks, until it is only Ilknar, Valia, Roland, and Mila who can go to the command deck to meet this illithid pirate captain face to face.
There they talk about what is to come, the ilithid able to speak common, and about how they could join, how he does not know of the bloom, and believes their trust in the fey is shortsighted; Saerah may have other plans she needs to engage for being sent to this Material Plane.
Valia soon goes below, and she searches out the deck of the ship to see how close the Nautiloid has become to the ship, and bearing a 1000 feet drop, she consides a jump to join the rest of the ship. However, above, the Captain Illithid leads the rest of the group to the lower bridge deck, and as Valia begins to rev her chainsaw, they warn of the consequences, asking what this elf intends.
They fight, and Ilknar falls, and many are wounded, if not for Mila's steel wind strike, and G's confusion spell.
