Session 53: Animaesus and Tarrasques: The Eagle's Prophecy

General Summary

Killian, near midday, has been engaged at the center keep of the city, near the 2nd House Seal, that which helps bind the right arm of the tarrasque as it 'sleeps'. The 2nd House has been nearly layed to waste by Anton's Vengeance, and Killian takes but a few moments to try to convince both Orcafor and Anton to find peace, to stop their attack on the 2nd Seal, and join them in the main gate of the city, where this new threat, this mechanoid eagle waits. They do reluctantly agree, and to follow the lupin kin, they first must order their underlings to stay behind to protect the Seal from further encroachment by another house or movement.

However, a few hundred feet away, they are met by Goc, the eventually learn later, of the 6th House, a musteli fighter sent to protect the 6th's Seal. He wishes at first to join the new trio as they go to the center, ensuring his binder lord knows of these movements by the 5th and 11th House against the 2nd House. While distracted by this, and also the arrival of another unknown human woman from the 13th House's Seal, and the guards and knights of the lupin of the first house, the second seal erupts again in violence, as The Platutu comes from an invisibily spell and he guts the young squamata Squeur, the abjurer of Orcafor. This leads Anton and Orcafor to order their other forces, two flying alchemists a trochil and orthoptera, and the Lasi, the aves wizard, respectively. Killian worries of the consequences of these moves, for Lasi was an aggression combatant against the giantkin but moments ago. Yet, he and the two binder lords will have to worry about this later, for the Eagle from the South waits.

Back at the 11th House, Faurwiin and Tenebris both seek rest, and the prepare a message to be sent to Orcafor, to lure him to the dungeons away from so many prying eyes of wizards, citizens, and even the walls of the tower itself. It is time to restructure the 11th House proper.

Birdman and Amu, with Mel and her militia, and even--unbeknownst to everyone--Ssech hidden in the crowd, disguised as a orc of some strange sort. The watch on as a seeming Gnome, blonde and with pigtails and in a suit of chainmail, but black and tight, form-fitting to help her enter and pilot the eagle pirched on the ground behind her. She dances and sings in an obviously dwarven chant, and she hails of times of the seven stars, the truth of the empire, of the following of the prophecy to come to the lands of beasts.

She then summons groups of cultists, draped in burlap and simple flax clothes, but also commoners and citizens of the city and lands of Animaesus. They bring copper and silver, enough for everyone in the nearby crowd, but the also so are followed by a host of dwarves, dressed in simple attire and unarmed. These dwarves bring glass bottles of water for 1000 people. Water is most precious in the city of salt, for the beast has tainted most natural, fresh water within fifty miles of the city. Killian and Anton and Orcafor soon approach, and they see Birdman, with an Amu in his shirt and cloak, a Mel watching keenly on the city streets. They also see Xantha, the Binder Lord of the 9th House approaching.

Watching the gnomish dancer, this harbinger of  the dwarf lords from the south, they reason she waits for the leaders of the City to come forward for her real message. Xantha is attempting to take the lead, but Anton and Killian and Orcafor arrive soon too, and with Birdman and Amu coming behind, these six will speak to this foriegn messenger.
She says: We have chosen our next project, prospect--you. I am the first, of seven, if you should know. We jave evidence, heard rumors. Anoterh primordial child has risen?
Birdman knows she means another K'ash, but most would assume her referencing the tarrasque. He tells the blonde gnome that he will indeed show her to the chamber where K'ash is from, at a later time, but the primordial child has left the city. He and Killian take the lead, and Amu senses that only the City may aggravate this beyond the point of this parlay, so talking with the gnome more will help understand their army's perspective.
The gnome continues: "Peace can be assured. Then, I will tell you, the beast must be turned anew. Barur demands it. We will follow that ancient Will. Surely, the cult has warned you."

The others ask questions of intent and reason, and they learn that the prophecy has brought her people here, and they ask her to retell this tale of their people's reasoning and understanding. The ancient world, one land, one people, and then the lands break: the beasts rise, a tarrasque for each continent of seven. They are then tainted by darkness. They rise up, and the lands respond with seven stars, a group of seven for each of the seven beasts. She says, "We found our seven, and those of each land too. Now we know your beast has awoken in these last few hundred years, now we know the seven stars will rise again from these lands too."
They begin to realize the power that will unfold with the rise of the beast, and Amu even reasons that some of his old teachings of druidic lore may indeed be true: but what aspect of nature is it really a part of, this tarrasque of the ancient world?
She leaves them with this warning, that she will return with others from her army, that the beast is nearing its end.

They then split ways, with Killian and Amu heading back to the center to ensure peace after The Platutu's continued aggression. Birdman goes to the 13th House district, and he seeks Sayrulion, Eros' father, so he can send a magical message to his friend.
Ssech then searches for connections to his new God, this ancient primordial deity, Jacq. He reasons that the Shrine of Macinifex may know something, and when he heads there, he finds the three towers that are its ancient silhouette. This is one of the few buildings this old within the city that comes from before the fall of the beast, one that still stands despite being so close the 12th House' flailing tail, the seal that is most often put into question and is most often at risk of being usurped. Inside, he finds the library well enough, watched over by a small musceli female, and this mousekin helps Ssech find an ancient tome, one she did not know she even had. It is made of stitched fish scales, each scale about the size of medium humanoid's hand. Each scale has either runes, writing, or even pictographs and drawings of meanings and understandings from the ancient world. They find it is written in ancient celestial, and the page about Jacq needs translation from a keen expert. However, rather than wait for that, Ssech teleports to the safety of his apartment to read this ancient tome.

Faurwiin and Tenebris wait for Orcafor.

Killian meets with Goc, and he receives the musteli's blessing for the 6th House to accept the alliance of peace with the 2nd and 1st House. Then he moves to bring Quinnay under the full protection of the 1st House.

Amu goes to Pio's to understand more of the investment of the city into the threat of these ancient promordial children and the dwarves who seek and wield them.

The now will have time to do things amongst themselves, downtime to fully see what will come next for their future.
