Session 136: Scallywags: Threevian Battles

General Summary

It is early, early in the morning, a few hours still until sunrise, and the lights far to the east rise; Ilknar's sight can see a queen and entourage appear, a small band of warriors, devilkin, and mages. They prepare odd cannons, ones that soon open fire on Threev Herself.

During this Orran and Ilknar had already left upon a patrol, and Ilknar, charges forward, yelliing Queen Jhusve's name. This sparks the others, a thousand feet away, to watch his rage build, and thus they follow--Lady Sasha, Brimstone, Ollie, and Nethpione, and George returns to Wulfgar. Nethpione, before she leaves, gives flying to a few to add in their pursuit and engagment with Jhusve's forces, but Wulfgar stays behind, and he waits and readies divine magic to protect Threev. The onslaught of arcane cannons continues, and Nethpione is clipped once, but Mila raises a forceful wall, and it shields threevn nearly completely from this arcan onslaught. However, the ambush presumed by her and Wulfgar does not happen, and Mila soon opens a dimension door, one extended, to follow after Ilknar, who already is engaged with some winged monstrosity, and Brimstone, his fists imbued with divine light and power, whom charges after Lady Sasha, dodging below the arcane blasts.

If not for Ilknar and Sasha's true sight, and soon when Mila dispels the illusionary terrain, the are able to engage and disable any unified counter attack from Jhusve. Ilknar keeps the Emberheart distracted, and Sasha and Brimstone attack the calvary and cannon crews. Mila soon teleports right to Jhusve, and throws her from her high horse, where the Gnome lands on her, and holds her prone, but the Queen misty steps away, and starts to run towards the portal that one of her mages concentrates upon, standing ready for reinforcements or maybe an escape.

Orran has met the Threevian Hind, the last of its herd, and with some fey connection, he is able to befriend and ask for help. The creature runs at divine speeds far to the north, thousands of feet away from the threat, and Orran, knowing the trail of his own, he needs to turn back, and thus he offers his list of names, those taken from crew and adventure with the Crimson Fleet, and a promise of reunion as one herd with this Hind. With that, the fey elk, some divine creature, agrees to take Orran back, traveling a half mile in mere moments.

The battle rages, and cannons are rearmed, aimed, and fired, but the fear that Brimstone creates as he approaches, and the lightning hammer slams from Sasha's own onslaught, as well as Mila's throttling of Jhusve, many compatriots and crews stand or flee away in fear. And, during which, a band of kobold sappers appear, having dug for many miles across the Wall, planting marks for future Kobold Kollective ventures, claims, and explosions. They see the Queen, and know the promise to the Crimson Fleet, the Vengeance to the Queen herself and her mistake in power and dominion over all dragonkin, and even the purpose that must be thwarted--they plant a large mine, the largest they have ever build or seen, and they light the fuse, to lay claim for the Kobold Kollective if this pivotal moment, to maybe even slay the Queen herself, but the fuse is incomplete. A small group must run back in, and retie the fuse, and thus, the great Sacrifice of Threev will be remembered by all Kobolds of the Kollective.

Orran sneaks behind enemy lines, and the ground shakes.

Ilknar faces a foe worthy and strong, healed by his elemental wrath, and the ground shakes. Mila throws the Queen prone, and the ground shakes.

Brimstone frightens humans, knights, and devils as he sees family and friends dead, mangled, maimed, and branded with dark and necrotic purpose. And the ground shakes.
Sasha slays monsters, bribes cannoneers, and the ground shakes.

Mages run, knights fight, devils slash and die, and the ground shakes.

Mages find the Conduit of Threev, and they find sanctuary from the shaking ground, but soon fire storms fall to their doom, and the ground shakes as fissures open up near the wall, and Wulfgar concentrates on divine wrath, and protection for Lady Threev--one thousand feet west, where Ilknar Rages, Mila throws, Orran sneaks, and Brimstone warns of death, for of loss he mourns, Horizon, and Qoc, and Mercou, and others--Aurora and the Cloud Mask, and then, and then, Steadfast, his kin and half brother. Brutalized and mutiltated, cultist tools so these cannons could rage, kill, and destroy. Death will come to them all, the paladin promises. Swift and sure.

And as Orran sneaks, he sees another rogue, a hobgoblin who broke ranks with the Queen's Loyalist, and when Mila drops the queen down, this hobgoblin drops a bomb, one to distract and kill those manning the nearest cannon. Orran then takes opportunity to skip through air above and beyond more of the enemy line, to an elderly elven mage concentrating on the portal. Breaking that mage's concentration, the fey wanderer then dodges and weaves through grass and branch, leaf and wind, bending light and sight to his favor, and avoiding any following protectorate of this conjuration mage. With that the portal closes, and the others continue the fight, but now Nethpione has teleported Ilknar and herself close to Mila, who still wrestles and tumbles with the Queen and her blades, but Ilknar brings them close to the Captain, and the Captain stands firm--devils run from him, and a knight breaks beneath his fists.

Now their gumption is broken, and the wrath is in the hands of the Scallywags. Threev is seemingly unharmed, for now. But mages still run from Wulfgar's wrath.

Orran dances in the trees, and Mila, Nethpione, and Ilknar pummel and grapple Jhusve down: vengeance loud, and pity hollow. Sasha cleans up the devilish and draconic aid about the cannoneers.

Jhusve has underestimated the willingness they had for sacrifice, but still, their focus is not clear. There must be answers to this vengeance the Scallywags seek. There must be compensation, for so many have been sacrificed for what purpose, and what gain?

The last shake and then ground explodes. They all fall prone, all but Mila, for some odd tumble aided in her gain atop the Queen.
