Session 134: Scallywags: The Taielian Lion Roared and Voidshard Fell

General Summary

The chaos of grappled lions, antimagic warriors, and now orcish slaves continues without a pause. Nethpione thankfully floats nearby and above to counter powerful magics from the queen's simulacrum, and then Brimstone pummels the construct into a divine mist. Ilknar and Mila wrap up the Queen and her seemingly orcish but definitely undead Chosen, and Wulfgar, Ollie, and George assist. It is Wulfgar final spear pierce that takes the Queen's final breath though, but without Mila's antimagic fields, most assuredly Jhusve would have escaped and gained more of the upperhand against these Claimants of the Throne.

Meanwhile Sasha, soon joined with Ollie, but finally with Brimstone, is able to grapple, restrain, and then incapacitate the Lion. With the queen gone, and then Ilknar and Mila going to save the orc ladies from a life of certain slavery, George can then help then shave the golden mane off of the giant lion. Other orc reinforcement will join them within the our, though, so the slaves must come with the group as they travel back East to the Conduit of Taiel. George reminds them that they must present the mane as proof of the Claimant, and thus gain possesion of the Blessing of Taiel, the First Trial.

They take a brief rest beforehand, and during that time, Mila gathers up the queen's belongings: a cloak, a sword, a cane, and her spellbook. She is able to identify the cloak as a +3 cloak of protection, and she is able to find out that the queen's shimmering scimitar is a Vorpal Blade.

She and the others worry that the queen might not be fully dead, either. She could be cloned, and if that is the case, she is probably back at the Palace in Mainwalk or at the Collegiate Arcanum. Yet, they must finish the claim that they started, so they travel east to the wall. Over sharp and craggy rocks and boulders, they climb to be in the looming shadow of the Wall of Kings. Within 120 feet, they are paused, and one of the faces of the King watches, gazes over the jagged fields with anticipation and a want for truth. Ilknar, Lady Sasha, and eventually Mila step forward, and they announce their names and truths. George brings the golden mane to them, and Sasha lets Ilknar present to the Conduit of Taiel, for him to be the Claimant of the First Trial. The Wall acknowledges this truth, and Ilknar is taken to a vision of a time long passed, when the lion was a cub, and its master was Taiel, and ancient fey warrior. The train and grow, and they become worthy for the Divine Dragon to ask them for the greatest sacrifice: to be one of the Dragon Lord's, to sacrifice life and power to seal and ancient darkness beneath the wall, to stop that darkness from taking Barur in its grasp. Then, Ilknar is given the choice: which nine will recieve this blessing of Taiel:

The Claimant chooses nine creatures to gain the following effects: Resistance to bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing, and +50 Temporary Hit Points. Additionally, a target can use its action someone before their next long rest to gain immunity to all damage for the next 1 minute. This action is gone once it is used. This last until the trials are over.

His closest of course, and then they stand and wait.

Brimstone turns to them, though, the rest nearly complete: do we let the palace be taken by the Queen's throne, our crew? Or do we continue to the second trial, to the lands of Binbir?

Mila and Wulfgar knows this to a be deep bay, Binbir. It is 1600 miles north. They need time to get there or mana to teleport them across the lands quickly. Is the quickness needed?

Will the orcs return to claim their gifts from Jhusve, these slaves and sisters of Auna? Will their eyes see the blessing given to Ilknar as the Claimant of the First Trial, and will they try to claim it for themselves?
