Session 124: Scallywags: Dreams Before The Dwarven Fort of Ioomore, No More!

General Summary

The Wedding is over, each goes to the perspective rest.

Lady Sasha is found first, nightly routines of hair and skin routines, of stretches and writing of her day, before she finds herself in bed. Her dreams are her own tonight, but she does see a home of hers, Grindstone's Grain, it already under some assault by shadow creatures from the great beyond. She has already walked this street today, fought the fight and won. Now, it is the aftermath, something caused by the here and now with the throne: something released? She is embraced by her mentor and trainer Ezra, asking if she is okay, looking her over desperately for any marks or wounds. Not too soon afterward, she is greeted by Noodles, and as she pulls away, she remembers the fight before, when Vareth fell at her feet, where he still lays dead, and the urge. The yearing to consume Noodles, yes, but so much more. She resisted as she does this dream now. That urge, to consume life for life. These shadows confuse and concern her; they warn of the future claims of the throne and the king, of what lies beneath the wall and the waters depths around them. These shadows remind her of the Fleet's own shadow warrior, and CHOSEN, of the King, Ollie. The startles Lady Sasha awake, and she goes to find Ollie in her own room. There, she knocks for quite a few minutes before Ollie opens. Reluctantly the half-orc agrees to the yuanti's plans, to join them on the morrow for the expedition to Ioomore's final spot.

At seemingly the same time, some midnight or so, Wulfgar is awoken by Ihapaeg in his wan lantern light. The elder dwarf enters Wulfgar's room abruptly, and paces at first, before sitting, and waiting for Wulfgar to close the door and listen to him. Ihapaeg states how he remembers, the coronation, the time when Wulfgar and his brother 'Borq' ruled the lands. A time for dwarves. It takes some moments for Wulfgar to remember this, but they both celebrate briefly.

Ilknar has enjoyed his night. The Weddding. Nethpione's beauty and claim as a queen. The party. The drinking. Their first night together. He greedily falls asleep. When he dreams, he finds himself on his favorite beach near Feon, with his Queen resting her head upon his lap. Yet, when she turns to look up at him, she is not the Queen, well, not his. His gut lets him know well enough. This is the current queen. A human, beautiful to be sure, with white hair, but dressed in the wedding dress of the Nethpione. He breaks away. And, Jhusve asks for and understanding of her love's last moments: was Ilknar the one who slew him? Ilknar, within his own dream, is able to manifest the preserved head of Boveen. He absorbs the Queen's anger, nearly unaffected, but frozen, too, and she slams her magical, crystalline staff into the ground. She asks another question: who else aids him, who cannot she not see? She sees snakes and pirates, High mages, dragonkin, and a giant's prince, and fey, but who else is close to the Storm Prince? She projects his own dream to the Wall, the Golden Dragon he has already seen so many times in his dreams before, and he sees Nethpione bound before it by lances of light that piercing through her body and soul. He is nearly blinded and first, and he pushes through, his eyes melting in their sockets to tears and blood, and he reaches for her, and he wrenches her free, and they embrace. He wakes, and when he falls back asleep again, this nightmare terrorizes him all night.

Back with Wulfgar and Ihapaeg, the elder dwarf loses sight of his own conversation, and redirects Wulfgar to a new idea: his own family? They took what he had, and they made something new: they raised Seraphina, they caused the Claddenrow to fall. He did. His darkness did. Wulfgar tries to comfor the elder dwarf.

Mila dreams within her mansion, after a night of drinking, and Kevdae's warm body next to her. She falls asleep, and she finds herself back at the Topsy Turvy, at the bar behind the arena, and instead of her old alligator friend serving the drinks, Jhusve Voidshard, Queen and Widow to King Boveen, stands in Swamperson's clothes, and the Queen fills a double shot the the High Mage's request. Eventually Queen Jhusve asks Mila why should we betray the crown. Mila's answer is simple enough: the people demand more respect. The queen pushes further, asking for aid for questions. The queen asks again, who is with them? Who aids them? Who cannot she not see? Mila refuses, and in so doing, she sees a dream further away: of the streets of the Mainwalk of the Faces of the King, the main part of the City. Above dragons roar, and fights rage. Here the illusion of the dream wanes, and Mila knows the manipuplation of her own dream is here, truly. Thus, she directs this away, and she awakes part of her self, and Kevdae, too, by casting a dispel magic within her own dream, breaking the spell and hold of Jhusve, who was trying to frighten the High F-ing Mage. Kevdae asks of her dreams, and Mila says she got that bitch, don't worry. They soon fall back to sleep, cook and mage.

Wulgar still comforts Ihapaeg, and the dwarf from Claddenrow explains how he brough the darkness back, from the Trials of the King. Yes, he was there, as part of the dozen or so who joined the King Borq to prove his ascension and coronation. Wulfgar remembers this and rejoices with the elder dwarf. Kinship beyond now, actions of a time when dwarven actions defined dwarven aims.

Orran has a strange fey-vision from his trance this night, and he sees the Bloom, a chance different, a what if--it falling upon the Wall, the Faces of the King, of Saerah's life and sacrifice being given to Boveen and these others Orran has heard so much about. Unbelievable.

Wulfgar sees Ihapaeg worried of others, of other races taking the throne, a racist mindset from before the Treaty, the 700 years of Alliance to this day. Yet, Wulfgar also confirms his own destiy.

Brimstone falls asleep in his lovers arms, Auna who snuck in after the party for love and embracing. He sleeps, and the Fire Drake of the Wall, the Golden Figure and Daughter of Om, Avatar to Tritherion and the powers beyond, greet and beckon the paladin. They promise a future bright, of light and of grace. Yet, darkness still hides behind every draconic roar, breath attack, or glory-filled action.

Before they leave, Ilknar finds Aikhon in Horizon's room, and they talk out in the hall awkwardly, where eventually the Quartermaster agrees to bespeckle Ilknar with Diamond Dust and cast a greater restoration upon the giantkin to cure him of his long night.

Ilknar awakes, exhausted, by the knocking upon his door. Nethpione questions their existence at agreeing to such a fate. Yet, they all gather, to end Ioomore once and for all. Ollie, Chatulkik, Dosgratin, Ilknar and his wife Nethpione, Lady Sasha, the High Mage Mila, Orran, Wulfgar, and Captain Brimstone all join for the adventure. It takes them almost six hours to find their way, after awaking at first light, and they locate the craggy cliffs where this dwarven fort is located. With some extra time and investigation to help them survive, they are able to find two entrances. Once, lower, on the beach, the obvious 'front' entrance, and then another, a long ladder that leads straight down about 200 feet. They choose the ladder, and fortunately enough they are able to push past some stone doors quickly enough before they circumvent much of Ioomore's own laboratory. They find him in mid experiment, and they launch into an attack stunning his golems, and pummeling him to puddy in the ground. Around them other golems attack, and odd creatures that Ioomore captured and experimented upon, but this group is vastly successful.

After the fight, Ilknar presses onward, while Brimstone stays with the golden dragon wyrmling that was rescued, and Orrand assist Lady Sasha with harvesting more dragon heart pieces; she has 4, enough for the beginnings to some real power. It is a black dragon heart.

Mila investigates the main apparatus that seems to be assisting, or was, with Ioomore's cloning and golem creation. It is siphoning mechanic, a means of taking energy from one soure, through alchemically distilled magic blood of creatures ancient and odd, and allow a quickening of the transmutation and growth processes of both purposes.

Yet, Mila follows Ilknar down, and they enter an odd control room where Mila sees crystallien, ancient and dwarven control centers hinting to powerful conjuration magic that could encompass this entire structure. But for what purpose? She begins to walk forward, and Ilknar walks to the next door before the quiet becomes deafening, and the skin crawls with apprehensive fear.
